Apple Takes it Back

After getting its share of rather unwarranted media and blogger attention, Apple has apparently decided to just altogether axe the anti-virus software advisory that it posted on its site several days ago.

"We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate [...] The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the box. However, since no system can be 100% immune from every threat, running antivirus software may offer additional protection," wrote an Apple spokesman on the 'matter'.

Alright. Fair enough.

Come to think of it, an Apple Anti-virus advisory is just like a Thinkpad manual telling you not to spill any liquid on the keyboard -- even though it's spill proof.
