Back in 2004, a 1GHZ processor was already enough to run a 'powerful' high-end laptop. But, of course, that was in 2004 and laptops have gone a long way since then. Nonetheless, even with today's more demanding applications, a 1GHZ processor is still pretty reliable in powering notebooks.

Interestingly, yesterday, Toshiba unveiled its newest product - A handsome smartphone run by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 1GHZ processor, the Toshiba TG01. Yes, you read that right, a phone with a 1GHZ processor -- powerful enough to run a PC.

9.9mm thick, TG01 is based on Windows Mobile 6.1. It has a 4.1-inch WVGA 800 x 480 384k pixel resistive touch screen and supports 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and assisted-GPS. I dunno about you but I think, given these, Toshiba TG01 will be another formidable iPhone killer -- not that iPhone should be scared or anything.

Looks neat!

TG01 will be available in Europe this summer -- price is yet to be disclosed.
