Turn Cellphone into Portable Ultrasound - Video

... well, not really any cellphone -- only those running on Windows Mobile. But still, the idea is revolutionary.

A team at Washington University in St. Louis, with funding from Microsoft, developed the software needed to run this on Windows Mobile and they are now trying to make the device more affordable at just around $400.

Amazing really -- but here are some cool words of caution from Slashgear:

Of course, just as digital cameras have made it easier for annoying photographers to snap your photo and then attempt to sell it to you as a “reminder of your day”, there’s every chance this technology could fall into the wrong hands. Stand clear for drive-by ultrasound attacks, as pregnant women are accosted by rogue clinicians, illicitly scanned, and then offered expensive snapshots of their beloved fetus.
