Entire Genetic Code of Skin Cancer and Lung Cancer Mapped ! Major Scientific Breakthrough !

For the first time since the birth of genetics, scientists were able to map the abnormal genetic code of skin and lung cancer.

Definitely a milestone in scientific history, this astounding discovery can pave the way for new tests to spot tumors far earlier and treat them with more effective new drugs.

Professor Michael Stratton, who is the UK lead of The International Cancer Genome Consortium - a global effort to end cancer, told BBC News (source):

"These catalogues are going to change the way we think about individual cancers.

"By identifying all the cancer genes we will be able to develop new drugs that target the specific mutated genes and work out which patients will benefit from these novel treatments.

"We can envisage a time when following the removal of a cancer cataloguing it will become routine."

What about the other cancer types? Breast, Liver, etc ?

As mentioned above, this is a global effort.

The UK is looking at breast cancer, Japan at liver and India at mouth.

China is studying stomach cancer, and the US is looking at cancers of the brain, ovary and pancreas.

Great news. *thumbs up*

This is another proof that despite all the bad things that have been happening recently there is still goodness in the world.
