Two weeks ago, with nary an accompanying press release, a new Acer laptop model was shipped to shops in the United States.
Weighing just over 3 pounds, Acer Aspire 1551 dons a 11.6-inch LED-backlit display and comes with a 1.5GHz AMD Turion II Neo K625 CPU. Like its netbook cousin Acer Aspire One 521, this dual-core notebook sports a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 GPU for smooth 1080p playback. Other specifications include 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, HDMI-out and a six-cell battery that gives around 5 hours of uptime.
Acer Aspire 1551 comes with a $550 price tag in the US.
It remains to be seen whether Acer even intends to bring it in this region. As always, TP will post updates on 1551's availability in the Philippines as soon as we get them.
