Great news for Nokia N900 users!
PR 1.3 update is dropping soon and it will include a 'MeeGo and Maemo' dual boot solution for all Nokia N900 devices! This means that Nokia N900 owners will actually be the first ones to experience a good-to-go, working MeeGo OS running on a smartphone! Isn't that cool?!
UPDATE as of October 26, 2010 --
We've just received word from Nokia regarding the supposed Nokia N900 PR 1.3 MeeGo update;
Q: I’ve been reading in the blogs that it is now possible to dual-boot on the N900. Is this true?
A: The Nokia N900 is used as development hardware for platform developers working with MeeGo on ARM hardware architecture. While the software from the MeeGo project runs on the Nokia N900 for development purposes, Nokia does not intend to provide a dual-boot OS option to consumers as part of the PR 1.3 release as we want to ensure that we provide the best possible experience designed for that device. The meego.com blog post was primarily targeted to the audience reading the blog: MeeGo developers.
Ah, that's a bit heartbreaking. :(
Sorry to burst everyone's bubble.
Now, I know you're wondering, 'How soon is soon?' That we don't know yet. But I'm guessing it will be sometime this Q4.
