During the start of the year, we said that Samsung is unlikely to have just one flagship phone in 2011. We speculated that aside from Nexus S, the Korean company could likewise release the next iteration to Samsung Galaxy S handset this year.
Well, it looks like our speculations are correct. This one appears to be the follow-up to Samsung's best-selling phone of 2010 --
Flaunting a massive 4.5-inch SuperAMOLED Plus display and Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, Samsung Infuse 4G features an 8 megapixel camera at the back paired with 1.3 megapixel shooter up front, Full HD 1080p video recording capability, a capacitive Gorilla Glass touchscreen and a 1.2 GHz Hummingbird processor. "Super AMOLED Plus" display technology packs a 50% boost in sub-pixel count, offering an improvement in outdoor visibility and contrast.
As for connectivity, the phone supports Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G and HSPA+. HSPA+ enables 4G speeds when combined with fiber backhaul or Ethernet. The ports found on the phone include a 3.5 mm audio jack, microUSB 2.0 and HDMI for Full HD playback on an HDTV.
In the US, Samsung Infuse 4G i997 is slated for launch in the second quarter of 2011, exclusively for AT&T customers. No word on international release date nor pricing details as yet. Kindly stay tuned for updates.
