Chinese Boy Sells Kidney to Buy iPad2
A 17 year old Chinese boy sold his kidney so can have enough money to buy an Apple iPad 2.
Shanghai Daily reports,
On April 28th, without telling his family, the kid went to a hospital in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province for the kidney removal surgery arranged by the broker. He was handed 22,000 yuan (that's with an extra 2,000, mind you) or around Php 146,000 after the kidney extraction.
His mother's suspicions were aroused when Zheng returned home carrying an iPad2 and an iPhone. And the boy, who was left with a big scar on his side from the surgery, was forced to admit what he did for the love of the iDevice --
Shocked, the mom took her kid back to Chenzhou to report the crime to the police. They tried to contact the broker whose number couldn't be reached.
The hospital admitted contracting out its urology department to a Fujian businessman for the said operation and denied any connection with the crime.

I've read stories of people selling their organs so they can feed their families. But for a gadget? Come on. It's just totally wrong. I wonder what's going on in that boy's mind.

He does not realize that his kidney is worth waaayy more than his ipad 2 and iphone and the risk that he took. his ipad 2 and iphone will depreciate in just a few months (also his health) but his kidneys won't... tsk tsk..
