Apple New iPad Saves You Money on Electricity! Its 11,560 mAH Battery Only Costs $1.36 To Charge Regularly for a Whole Year, Says Study!

Are we becoming more energy-efficient as we shift our reliance from desktops to laptops and now, to mobile devices like tablets?

Apparently, yes.

Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. (EPRI) - an independent, nonprofit organization that conducts research and development relating to the generation, delivery and use of electricity for the benefit of the public - has learned that consumers who fully charge their new iPad every other day can expect to pay just as low as $1.36 for the electricity needed to power the device for a whole year!

In stark contrast, you can spend as high as $631 a year to run an old desktop or around $8.31 to use a laptop for the same period. Talk about major savings on electricity!

"As information technologies continue to change rapidly we see important implications for energy consumption. These results raise important questions about how the shifting reliance from desktop to laptop to mobile devices will change energy use and electricity requirements for the information age. At less than a penny per charge these findings bring new meaning to the adage, 'A penny for your thoughts,'" shared Mark McGranaghan, EPRI's Vice President of Power Delivery and Utilization.

TP Thoughts:

1. The study was done in the United States where consumers only pay roughly $0.11 per kilowatt hour. The Philippines, interestingly, has the most expensive electricity in Asia where the service has an average retail rate of around $0.18. If my math serves me right, this means that in our country, charging the new iPad regularly for a whole year should only cost more or less $2.16. Still not bad, eh?

2. My #newTattooiPad has a massive 11,560 mAH Li-Po battery; The largest on any tablet out in the market today. Looking at the results of EPRI's study, I can't help but be amazed at how energy-efficient my mobile device is and how much moolah it can save me in the long run. Seriously, how can anyone not love this tablet? Go get one!
