They're giving away this smartphone at Eat Bulaga like confetti.
Featuring a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 1 GHz processor, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS, 3.2 MegaPixel camera, and 1400 mAh battery, O+ 8.7 looks and works almost like any other entry-level Android smartphone currently available.
But it has at least two things that other cheap Droids by bigger and more popular manufacturers just don't. First, O+'s handset comes with Dual SIM Dual Standby support allowing you to stay connected on two networks at the same time. And second, it features this unique technology called Air Shuffle, which - quoting the company - "permits a touch-less touch phone experience through a motion sensor. This innovation aims to fuel revolutionary tech enthusiasts who are [on] the look-out for devices that [offer] something unique and have a distinct character that matches the new generation." I remember seeing Julia Clarete giving a demo of Air Shuffle during Eat Bulaga's 33rd Anniversary show last August 18; Were you able to catch that, TP Friends?
First time to hear about O+? It's alright. According to the company's official Facebook page, O+ is supposedly a technology company based in the United States that aims to cultivate breeds of technophile all over the world, starting with the world's busiest mobile phone hub: Asia. Gee, I wonder why. I mean, why not start in the US if you're already there?
Well, anyway. O+ 8.7 is now available via various Pinoy gadget stores online. Most of them are selling this handset for only Php 4,995, which is not bad I think considering the all value-added features you're getting. Hopefully, TP can get hold of a review unit so we can check out the UI and give our verdict on its build and reliability.
In the meantime, to wrap this up 'the TP way', I present the complete technical specifications of O+ 8.7 Android Smartphone, which I personally call, "The Eat Bulaga Droid" --
