Last Wednesday, via its much-awaited Gold Rush event held at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City, local handset company Happy Man Philippines - maker of Starmobile - launched several exciting new smartphones and tablets in the midrange and top tier price echelons.
But the cool thing is that, despite their seeming focus on those price categories, they didn't forget about budget-conscious consumers who prefer purchasing affordable, entry-level devices.
Starmobile Navi - with official suggested retail price of only Php 4,690 - is the most affordable Quad Core smartphone that the company has released to date. And consumers will be glad to know that aside from having a pocket-friendly price tag, the handset is also pretty capable and has decent technical specifications.
Running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system with its Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and VideoCore IV GPU based Broadcom BCM23550 SoC and handling multitasking with 1 GB of RAM, Starmobile Navi sports a 4-inch WVGA VN display, a 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, VGA front cam, and a VGA video recorder. Also, the handset features 4GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB, Dual SIM Dual 3G Standby capability, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity support, and a 1,500 mAh removable Li-Ion battery pack.
According to Starmobile, Navi got its name from the advanced navigation features that the phone has. Thanks its Broadcom chipset, the handset comes with GLONASS or Global Navigation Satellite System, a space-based satellite navigation system operated by the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces. Quoting Wikipedia, "GLONASS provides an alternative to Global Positioning System (GPS) and is the only alternative navigational system in operation with global coverage and of comparable precision." Note that this functionality is not available on similarly priced Android phones running on MediaTek processors.

Starmobile understands that Navi will be facing a lot of good competitors in its sub-Php 5,000 price category. So make it more unique or to make it stand out from all the rest, the company added software enhancements headlined by Starmobile Sync, which allows users to easily transfer contacts, calendar entries, and other information from your old phone with ease via Bluetooth.
Starmobile Navi is now available at all Starmobile Kiosks and Stores nationwide, and also at Kimstore - the most trusted online store in the Philippines.
