Meizu Blue Charm 4.6-inch 64-Bit Octa Core LTE Phone, To Sell for 799 Yuan or Php 5,785?

If I remember correctly, there was a time in not too distant past when representatives from Chinese electronics company Meizu said that they don't intend to create smartphones for the entry-level market. Well, I think they spoke too soon - anyway, it was before they experienced tremendous sales success with Meizu MX4 - as it now appears that they're poised to release a new handset that their budget-conscious fans would be delighted to see.

Meizu Blue Charm

Meizu Blue Charm - which, according to industry insiders, will be available in two sizes just like the latest iPhone - will be the company's main gun for the sub $130 USD price echelon. But the best thing about this release, aside from its very affordable price tag, is that it's also quite a powerhouse.

To be specific, the 4.6-inch variant shown in these photos will reportedly run Meizu's very own Android-based Flyme OS 4.0 with a 64-bit MediaTek MT6752 chipset incorporating eight ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.7 GHz and a ARM Mali-T760 GPU. According to MediaTek, this SoC comes with Category 4 dual-mode LTE provides worldwide 4G-network compatibility, while dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 support high-performance wireless networks and devices.

Design-wise, if we're to look at these teaser posters, it seems that the smaller model - which will cost only 799 Yuan or Php 5,785 before taxes and import duties - will look a lot like the Apple iPhone 5C with a glossy back plate that's available in a number of bright, youthful hues hinting that it's made for young (or young-at-heart) consumers.

Aren't you excited about this release? Well, I'm sure our friends at Novo7Tech - the official distributor of Meizu smartphones in the Philippines - are. The MX4 proved to be a monster seller for the Pinoy company and I bet they're now carefully creating strategies on how to bring this affordable model here as soon as possible. If everything turns out well, I believe Pinoys should be able to get this from Kimstore or all Novo7Tech branches nationwide within Q1 2015.
