Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi Philippines Price, Specs, Unboxing, In the Flesh Photos

I want to show you this gorgeous hybrid that I currently use for blogging.

Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi

Check out my Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi.

It's actually two devices wrapped one ultra-slim, metal-clad package.

It's a Windows 8.1 Tablet and - shipping with a keyboard dock with large island-style keys and a sizable trackpad - it's also a Full-fledged Notebook, making it ideal for both work and play.

According to Asus, the Transformer Book Chi Series is a family of beautifully-engineered, razor-thin 2-in-1 Windows 'detachables', offering the unrivaled convenience of a powerful laptop that transforms seamlessly into a handy tablet whenever needed. Transformer Book Chi is fast but silent, featuring a fan-less design powered by up to Intel Core M processors, for amazing performance that gives users the freedom to work and play with effortless mobility -- anywhere, anytime.

In the coming days, I'll be sharing with you some of the things that I love about this stunning 2015 release -- but in the meantime, I'll give you my initial impressions about the product as well as this quick unboxing.

"In Search of Incredible" is Asus' new corporate slogan.

Sealed.

T300 Chi ships with this large carton packaging for extra-protection. There's a smaller, more attractive box inside containing the product, which I'll show you in a bit.

I love this hybrid so much, I unboxed it in my bed!

Alright, let's open this!

That's the smaller box I was telling you about.

Corrugated stoppers on all four corners of the box add cushion as well as another layer of protection during shipment.

Sealed

It's a plain black Bento-type box. Very neat and understated; Like the fonts Asus used in printing the name of the device.

Lifting the cover, we are greeted by the Asus Transformer T300 Chi. It's breathtaking.

The first thing you'll notice as soon as you take the T300 Chi out of its paper tray is how thin and light it is -- for a hybrid. With the keyboard dock, it measures only 16.5 millimeters at its thickest point and weighs only 3.1 lbs.

Pulling the tray up, we see all the accessories and peripherals that ship with the hybrid.

Ah, I'm in love with my T300 Chi. It looks so hot!

I have the Dark Blue variant, which - quite frankly - almost looks Black or Dark Grey. But whatever shade it actually is, it's simply gorgeous.

How can you not appreciate the care that went into packaging and shipping this device?

The shells of both the tablet and the keyboard dock are made of anodized aluminum with gleaming, diamond-cut edges that give it a look of elegance and corporate sophistication.

My work is all about content-creation so I was instantly smitten by T300 Chi's full-sized keyboard.

I love the two large shift buttons, the great tactile feedback when typing, and the ample spacing between the keys. This keyboard is top-notch for a device in this category.

I've used bigger trackpads but this one does the job just fine. It's about the size of a regular business card. I won't disagree with those who say that it could be bigger but I don't really have issues or qualms with its current size. For me it's OK.

The tablet 'physically' connects to the keyboard dock via these magnetic prongs or latches -- and they work together via Bluetooth connection. The dock is powered by a 2WHrs battery and you charge it using the microUSB port found on the left panel.

All the hardware powering Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi as well all of its ports and key technical specifications are located on the tablet itself.

There are two versions of this 'detachable' that are available in the Philippines; My unit is the Php 39,995 variant, which is powered by a 0.8 GHz Intel Core M 5Y10 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The other is more expensive at Php 46,995 and it has a 1.2 GHz Intel Core M 5Y71 processor complemented by 8 GB of RAM. While you can't call T300 Chi a 'beast' in terms performance (Asus has the G-Series ROG Gaming Laptops for that), it is nonetheless powerful enough to play practically all games and applications that you can download form the Microsoft Windows Store and it's also good enough to provide a stutter-free Full HD video playback and word processing user experience.

Those innards aside, both variants share the same specifications. Both T300 Chi models are equipped with a 12.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS panel with 70.78% screen to body ratio, a 2 MegaPixel front-facing camera that also works as a 720p HD video recorder, and a 32WHrs battery pack delivering around 8 hours of uptime with mixed usage. As for the ports, the slate has a 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB v3.0 port, one for microHDMI, and of course, an AC Adapter input.

My friend Kim Lato of Kimstore gave me this cool folding table and I use it to blog in bed with my Asus Transformer T300 Chi. Nice, eh? Whether in the cafe or just at home, I know I can rely on this 2-in-1 to help me accomplish my tasks online.

Stay tuned for more TP articles and features on the Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi here in TechPinas within the next few weeks. For now, I highly recommend this model to all Pinoy consumers who are looking for a beautiful and elegant tablet-and-laptop combo with enough power to be a great cafe or home office companion.
