New Cherry Mobile Android One Smartphone, To Be Announced on August 10, 2015

Last Tuesday - August 4, 2015 - I received an invite from our good friends at Cherry Mobile for the launch of their latest smartphone, which is set to take place on Monday - August 10, 2015.

The invitation clearly stated that they'll be unveiling their next Android One device -- so there will be no surprises at least in that regard. I'm personally expecting to also see our buds from Google at the event since they are also behind the product.

CM has likewise posted teaser photos of the upcoming smartphone on their official Facebook Page so - more or less - we already have an idea of how the handset will look like.

What we're not sure about are the phone's exact technical specifications and features. So far, I've only gotten some information from CM fans and 'insiders' regarding those. They say that the device sports a 5-inch HD IPS display, 13 MegaPixel main camera, and a 5 MegaPixel front cam. Also, they tell me that it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, has 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded. But according to them, the coolest thing about this budget-friendly model is that it supports LTE connectivity, which the first Cherry Mobile One smartphone doesn't have. Of course, these are all unofficial information so we'd do well to take these with a grain of salt.

TP Friends, I'll be gracing Cherry Mobile's invitation for the launch of their new Android One phone so I could share all the updates from the event with you guys first-hand and in real time. For almost eight years now, TechPinas has been at the forefront of the latest news and events in the local tech scene and I hope we could continue doing it - together - for many more years to come.

If you remember, we were also there during the Philippine launch of Android One, which happened last February 17, 2015. Just to refresh your memory: Android One is a landmark project by Google that aims to bring high-quality handsets from their partner device manufacturers - including Cherry Mobile - to as many people as possible via a great combination of hardware and software in 'packages' that almost everyone - especially budget-conscious consumers - can afford.
