Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Camera Sensor Details, Revealed?

Samsung has been consistently giving their Galaxy smartphones great cameras, allowing these handsets to be reliable point-and-shoot substitutes.

The best-selling Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, for instance, are a testament to the company's never-ending quest to give mobile consumers the best in the optics department.

Being one of the current titans in the electronics industry, Samsung never rests on its laurels.

In fact, there are already rumors circulating that the Korean Giant is already working on an even better camera sensor for their next generation flagship phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6, which will be launched in Q4 2016.

According to 'industry insiders', Samsung will give the Note6 a new 1/1.7” CMOS camera sensor to come with a lens module that has an f/1.4 aperture, allowing it deliver industry-leading low-light performance. [source] In comparison, Galaxy S7's shooter features a 1/2.5” sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. They added that Samsung wants to push the pixel count of the 2016 phablet's camera to the 18 to 24 MegaPixel range. Talk about a giant leap in imaging specs!

What powers Korean Giant's efforts to improve the imaging capabilities of its Galaxy smartphones, you ask? Well, rumor has it that Samsung has been moving people from their NX camera line towards their mobile department, with the roadmap that future smartphone cameras will inherit a new interface based on the NX camera line. With that, it looks like Sony will face some tough competition in the imaging department soon enough.
