Starbucks Philippines Care To Vote Promo Wins Pinoys Over

As a clear sign of unity with the Filipino people, today - May 9, 2016: Election Day in the Philippines from 7AM to 5PM, Starbucks is offering a BUY ONE, GET ONE (“One For You. One to Share”) promo on their featured Macchiato beverages.

Every customer who shows his or her voting finger with indelible ink to the Barista will one free featured Macchiato drink for a friend or loved one! The drinks covered were Roasted Caramel Macchiato and Chocolate Hazelnut Macchiato (hot, iced and blended variants). Per DTI-FTEB SPD Permit No. 5765, series of 2016

Why Macchiato, you ask? Well, I guess it's because "Macchiato" is an Italian word meaning "marked" or "stained". So that kind of alludes to or hints at the indelible ink on the voters' fingers. But that's just me.

Many Pinoys have availed of this generous offer since earlier today and some of them have posted photos on Facebook and Twitter enjoying their drinks with their buddies.

As a Filipino who takes pride in my country (I mean, just consider the name of this blog) and who sees Starbucks as a home away from home when I'm blogging or hanging out with my friends, this gesture from the company really warms in my heart. Thanks, Starbucks!

Oh, and to everyone who also voted today: I'm so proud of you! Here's a brighter future for our country with our next set of leaders! Let's all do our part to make our nation great.
