Pokemon Go is based on the widely popular animated series hailing back from the 90s.

The game was officially launched earlier today - July 6, 2016 - to the delight of many Filipinos on social media. In fact, as of 7:55PM, the keyword 'Pokemon Go' has been the top trending topic on Twitter in this territory for several hours now with more than 135,000 related tweets.

Despite Pinoys' enthusiasm about Pokemon Go, however, it is sad that the publisher has yet not made the mobile game available in our country both via Google Play Store and Apple App Store. As of writing, official app download is still limited to New Zealand and Australia.

The good thing, though, is that there are mobile users in those countries who were kind enough to get the APK of the game and to upload it online for everyone's enjoyment.

I was able to side-load the beta-version of Pokemon Go on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (which I purchased at argomall) after I downloaded it via APKMirror [DOWNLOAD]. You may do the same on your own Android smartphone or tablet at your own risk. Here's how you do it:

1. Go to your smartphone or tablet's Settings.
2. Look for the 'Security' sub-section. On some device's it's 'Lock Screen and Security'.
3. Under Security, look for 'Unknown Sources' or 'Install Apps from Unknown Sources' and turn it on. If a notification pops up, click OK.
4. Now, open your device's browser, head on over to the download link above and from the APKMirror site, download the APK.
5. Open the APK file on your device and install it.

I've captured my first Pokemon! Isn't Charmander the cutest?

Off hand, I think Pokemon GO is well made; Both its graphics and audio are on point. Plus, capturing Pokemons in real-life locations (by giving rear-camera access to the app) is also fun and enjoyable. I've yet to more extensively explore the interface but so far, I'm impressed.

If you're a big fan of the Pokemon animated series and you haven't lost your fascination for all of these cuddly creatures after all these years, I'm sure that you'll also fall in love with this title.

Update: Some users are reporting that the game does not run on Intel-powered smartphones and tablets.
