Pinay Shares Terrifying GrabCar Experience on FB, GrabPH Suspends Driver

Since I prefer not to bring my car when I go to Makati, The Fort, or Ortigas for meetings and events because of terrible traffic, lack of parking spaces, and my short temper, I often just make use either UBER or Grab to conveniently go around.

To be completely fair to Grab Philippines, in the numerous times that I've availed of their GrabTaxi or GrabCar service, I've never had any bad experience with their drivers. Not one so far; Thankfully.

But I guess I've just been very lucky. Because last night - July 29, 2016 - a Filipina on Facebook shared a terrifying story that gives the impression that not all Grab drivers are as nice as we would want them to be.

GrabCar Philippines

Based on Angel Ramos' narrative, it appears that a GrabCar driver verbally abused her with cuss words and grave threats just because she didn't have loose bills; Leaving her crying in fear and embarrassment. Here's her full story:

Me : eh kuya naiwan ko yung barya ko (which is yun nga yung nakalimutan)
Nagtaas na sya ng boses
Driver : dapat kasi nag nagdadala kayo ng barya !!! Hindi kami taxi "CAR" kami !!
me : kuya nakalimutan ko nga po dapat may barya kayo.
Driver : WAG KO AKO SINASAGOT SAGOT BUMABARIL AKO !!!!
Me: eh bat nyo po ako babarilin ?!! (Takot na takot nako )
DRIVER : DI MO AKO KILALA WAG KANG SUMASAGOT JAN !! DI MO AKO KILALA POLICE AKO !! MAY PINAG ARALAN AKO MAY PINAG ARALAN KA BA ?!!!!
Me: May pinag aralan ako kuya . Wag mko ginagyan .
Driver : AY PUTANG INA WAG MKO SINASAGOT NG GANYAN !

(source)

Angel's story quickly went viral on Facebook with thousands of Filipinos sharing the story on their own Timelines. Here are some FB comments left on the original post:

Obviously, many sided with Angel and requested for action from Grab and the government on the incident.

However, there are also FB users who believe that Angel's story is unfounded and that it could simply be part of a bigger 'black propaganda' against the successful transport service:

Following the quick spread of Angel's terrifying GrabCar story on social media, Grab Philippines has suspended the driver while they conduct an investigation to find out the truth.

In the spirit of fair, balanced, and honest blogging, TechPinas is open to also publishing the statement of the driver involved in this incident if and when he decides to release one.
