2017 Acer Swift 7 2nd Gen is 0.89 Centimeters Thin : The New Thinnest Laptop in the World

On August 30, at IFA 2017 in Berlin, Taiwanese electronics company Acer officially unveiled the 2017 refresh to their popular Acer Swift 7, which still holds the record as the thinnest laptop in the world today.

The Second Generation Acer Swift 7 - amazingly enough - is not only thinner than its predecessor but is also more powerful.

Measuring an incredible 0.89 centimeters at its thinnest point - making it 0.1 centimeter thinner than 1st gen Acer Swift 7, this year's model already runs on Intel Core i7 to ensure powerful performance on the go. In contrast, the late 2016 release had an Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor with performance comparable to that of a Core M chip.

On top of that, the fresh iteration also features 4G LTE with 2x2 802.11 ac wireless connectivity that guarantees fast and reliable internet access.

Acer has yet to let the media play with the actual unit but looking at photos taken at the company's IFA 2017 keynote, it appears that the 2017 Acer Swift 7's two USB Type C ports and 3.5mm combo jack have been re-positioned, which - for me - suggests a total design revamp.

As an owner of the first-ever Acer Swift 7, hearing news about the follow-up to my ultrabook is a bit bitter sweet. I can't believe it's been almost a year since the 1st Gen was released. But I guess that's simply the natural flow of technology.

I'm glad to own an epic, record-holding notebook as much as I'm glad that the company behind it is continuously trying to churn out products that can wow and empower consumers the world over.

Acer has yet to announce the official price and release date of the 2nd Gen Acer Swift 7 but I'm guessing it should land in Asia Pacific come Yuletide 2017 with SRP in the range of $1,000 USD to $1,300 USD.
