Google Chrome OS Demo : Just Google Chrome with Apps Tab ?!

Sundar Pichai, Vice President of Product Management for Google, demoed Google Chrome OS on a netbook for the American press yesterday.

Chrome OS is Google's open source operating system for users who spend most of their time on the web. It is built around the core tenets of speed, simplicity and security.

Without further ado, here's the demo video:

Hmm. To me, it just looks like Chrome browser with an additional Apps tab and an ovi mode. What do you think?

Chrome OS isn't the first and only Google-produced operating system - Of course, there's Android for mobile devices. Read about Google Chrome OS vs. Android OS HERE.

  1. It actually looks useable. With everything being in the cloud it takes care of a lot of problems with viruses and disk access and permissions.

I could see library labs or schools with machines running this OS. It makes sense. It really is the advent of a useable net terminal. Remember those, NCs. Somebody give Larry Ellison a shoutout.
