On May 3, 2017, local electronics brand Starmobile officially announced two new affordable Android handsets that should be good for young professionals and students who are quite conscious about their budget but are now looking for a reliable smartphone to be their daily gadget companion.

Arriving within this month, the Starmobile Up Prime is 700 MHz 4G LTE-enabled handset running the new Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Powered by a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A53 and Mali-T720 GPU based MediaTek MT6737 Quad Core processor, this Dual SIM model (microSIM x 2) sports a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels HD IPS display, 2.5D curved glass touchscreen, 8 MegaPixel rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, 5 MegaPixel front cam for selfies also with BSI sensor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card expansion slot, and a sizable 3,000 mAh battery pack.

Available in Champagne Gold and Dark Grey, the Up Prime will sell for Php 3,990 at all Starmobile Concept Stores and authorized details nationwide.

On the other hand, Starmobile Play Dash - which dons an official suggested retail price of only Php 2,490 - is equipped with a 4.5-inch 48 x 854 pixels FWVGA TN display, 8 MegaPixel fixed focus BSI camera with LED flash at the back, 2MP selfie cam in front, Dual SIM capability (microSIM x 2), 3G HSPA+ support, and a removable 1,700 mAh Li-Ion battery pack. At its heart, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 GPU based Spreadtrum SC7731C processor, has 1 GB of RAM, and comes with 8GB of storage that's easily expandable using the dedicated microSD card expansion slot.
