Seven Reasons To Be a TikToker Now

To TikTok or not to TikTok? That is the question.

Well, after two weeks of staying at home due to the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and being bombarded with fun TikTok videos by my friends on Facebook, I realized that perhaps it's time for me to be more active on TikTok. I'm not sure if I can look as cute as some popular TikTokers in their clips -- but there's no harm in trying, right?

If you're one of those who are still on the fence about this hot trend, let me give you seven reasons why you might want to give TikTok a chance.

1. TikTok lets you share your talent with the rest of the world.

This application gives you a great platform to showcase your talents like singing, dancing, lipsyncing, being a comedian, or what-have-you. If you've always felt like you have something real and genuine from inside you that the world must see, TikTok is the key.

One of my favorite TikTokers is MLion_Cross. He's a Pinoy healthcare professional based in Australia and he uses the app to share his dancing and comedic prowess with the world. He's so funny!

2. Who knows? You can be a star!

Remember Dubsmash? Maine Mendoza became popular in that platform and if my memory serves me right, it was one of the reasons why she was invited to be part of GMA7 noontime show Eat Bulaga. This proves that people who become popular in these applications can eventually crossover to mainstream media. Hence, hitting it big on TikTok can open bigger doors and opportunities for you in the future.

3. TikTok lets you brighten up someone's day.

In this time of turmoil and uncertainty due to Coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing political drama, putting a smile on someone's face simply by uploading fun on videos on TikTok is a blessing in itself. Remember that the good vibes we give to others always return to us one way or another.

One of the TikTokers I follow for good vibes is Heart Evangelista. I think the app lets her show her fun and quirky side. Her creativity in making her videos is also inspiring.

4. Make friends with like-minded people even if they are far away.

"Collab" with other TikTokers in making videos to double the fun! TikTok is like a bridge that can connect people living in different continents to create videos that can make the whole world smile.

5. Bond with friends and loved ones.

Aside from collaborating with virtual friends, we can always include our family, friends, workmates, and even lovers in our TikTok videos! Often, shooting clips as a group is filled with fun and laughter, which makes the experience more meaningful and memorable. The best part is that you will always have the resulting TikTok clip as a lasting memento from the experience.

6. Discover more about yourself.

I have a friend who recently became active on TikTok and he told me that never would have realized that he could actually act or lipsync to actors' popular movie lines if it weren't for the application. "TikTok allowed me to discover a talent that has long been hidden inside me. It's like magic," he told me. Imagine that!

7. TikTok lets you become an Agent of Positivity.

In a world that's seemingly filled with negativity, despair, division, and bad vibes, you can use TikTok as an effective platform to spread joy, hope, enlightenment, and even love. Think about it. Simply by making someone feel great after watching your video, you can actually make a real difference in the world because of its ripple effect. If person feels happy or inspired, he or she is more likely to do good to others as well.
