Smart Gives Postpaid Subscribers LTE Speeds for Just Php 50 Per Day

Last week, Smart Communications officially announced that they'll give their iPhone 5 Postpaid Plan 999, 2499, 1500, 2000, and 3000 subscribers free and unlimited LTE speeds until April 31, 2013. "No need to swap current nano SIM for an LTE SIM to enjoy faster connection," Miss Abbie Real, Social Media of Smart, told me directly on Twitter.

Of course, this service won't always be free and I believe even the above-mentioned subscribers will eventually have to pay for the LTE upgrade.

If you're one of Smart's postpaid subscribers whose plan isn't covered by the said freebie, Smart Communications - as promised - is now giving you an opportunity to likewise experience blazing fast LTE speeds for as low as Php 50 per day.

You'd need to enroll to the LTE add-on promo, use an LTE-enabled smartphone, tablet or dongle, and be in an LTE zone to enjoy the service.

"Select Smart Postpaid subscribers can now enjoy speeds of up to 42Mbps on their LTE-enabled devices for as low as P50 a day," shared Mr. Lloyd Manaloto, Smart Broadband Internet and Data Services Head.

Starting today until March 31, 2013, all Regular, Unli Data, and Consumable Smart Postpaid subscribers can avail of 1-day, 7-day, and 30-day LTE packages for only Php 50, Php 299, and Php 995 respectively, on top of their monthly bill. All-In and Freedom Plans subscribers, on the other hand, aren't covered right now and will have to wait a bit longer before they can get the service.

To subscribe to a package, simply send a text message with the appropriate promo keyword to 2200 (e.g. LTE 50 send to 2200).

Once enrolled, LTE-enabled devices that are compatible with Smart's LTE network will automatically connect to the service wherever it is available. To date, Smart LTE is present in over 770 establishments including malls, restaurants, and public areas across 10 cities in Metro Manila and in select areas in Boracay, Cebu, and Davao.

According to Smart, "In the absence of an LTE signal, the device will automatically connect to Smart's 4G High Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+) network."

Now, this is cool and all but I know what's in your mind. "What about prepaid subscribers? When can we subscribe to this LTE promo?" Well, as of writing, Smart hasn't given word on that.

Here's to hoping both that Globe and Smart would also make this connection available to prepaid subscribers soonest. I really believe that everyone, regardless of kind of subscription, deserves to enjoy really fast mobile connection speeds.
