Google Nexus 9 HTC Tablet Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Complete Specs, Key Features

Last October 15, 2014, Google announced the Nexus 9 - the latest iteration to its successful line of tablets running the latest version of Android OS with default interface; These slates also serve as an effective vehicle for the company to introduce major updates to its mobile operating system every year. In this case, Nexus 9 comes with the very fresh Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The Nexus 9 is manufactured by Taiwanese electronics giant HTC under the guidance of Google. Its 8.9-inch 1536 x 2048 pixels IPS screen, which Google describes as “big enough to work and watch on, but small enough to carry around in one hand,” puts it in between Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 from last year in terms of size

Mark of TP: If you remember, HTC is also the very first company that Google partnered with in crafting a Nexus device. Remember Nexus One from 2010 running Eclair? The one with a trackball?

Android 5.0 Lollipop on a Powerhouse Device

The Nexus 9, along with Nexus 6 smartphone made by Motorola, are the first two devices to ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop - known for its eye-candy 'Material Design' interface, energy-efficiency, and enhanced notifications management settings - right out of the box.

All improvements that are implemented and new features that debut on Android 5.0 Lollipop truly make the Nexus 9 an ideal device for multimedia – be it reading, web browsing, video streaming, and more. In addition to that, the hardware that backs up Android 5.0 inside the Nexus 9 future-proofs the device, brings the platform to full blossom, and makes the tablet more than capable of running the most specs-intensive apps and games available in the Play Store.

“The Nexus 9 is a great example of what can be achieved when two companies, united in their passion for innovative technology, come together to create a product with the user experience at the very center of the design process,” said Mr. Peter Frolund, HTC’s Vice President and General Manager for the UK and Nordic regions. “HTC’s unrivalled design language combines with the very latest software advancements to deliver a premium tablet, inside and out. We are thrilled to be able to bring this product to market.”

To complete the balance between work and play, a separate keyboard dock will be available for the Nexus 9. I mean, with the monster specs of the Tegra K1, it will surely go head-on against Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3, the nearest device it can call its rival in this category. The Nexus 9’s dock features a magnetic attachment and a folding design for that perfect positioning, as well as a fully responsive keyboard. Sold separately, the dock “helps you get stuff done at home, at the office, and on the go”.

That’s the Nexus 9 for you, TP Friends. Given the chance, will you buy it? For me, since this release is already quite expensive, I’m inclined wait for HTC or NVIDIA to release their own device with the 64-bit Tegra K1 for the added NVIDIA software features like the TegraZone app, or even an updated NVIDIA Dabbler, if they choose to include a direct stylus in their offering. Nonetheless, a pure Google experience - I believe - will surely not disappoint, especially when you’ve got such a beautiful device backed up with amazing hardware. I guess I'm still on the fence with this one.
