Samsung Galaxy A6+ 2018 with Dual Camera and No Notch, Coming Soon?

It's been a while since Korean Giant Samsung had a big winner in the midrange handset category.

As far as I can remember, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro from early in 2017 was the last best-seller that the company had in this price bracket.

Currently, Chinese smartphone makers OPPO, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Vivo are winning in the sub-Php 20K level -- but this upcoming Galaxy model could change that, if Samsung would be able to price it competitively.

Clad in aluminum, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ - which is expected to arrive sometime within the first half of 2018 - has several features that should make it an attractive offer for mid-level consumers including students and young professionals.

For one, as you can see in these photos, the device looks good. Frankly, its design language is largely identical to that of Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro - with that instantly identifiable U-shaped antenna band at the back along with the rounded corners - but I'm not complaining.

I particularly like this Deep Blue version as I think it looks really regal and elegant.

Aside from the design, the handset also has tall 6-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio that crafted to provide an enjoyable photo browsing, movie viewing, and 3D gaming experience.

By giving this model's screen a tall aspect ratio, Samsung was able to increase the viewing area without having to make the device itself larger.

Also, notice that the Galaxy A6+ doesn't have a notch - a feature that has proven to be a novelty marker on smartphones released this year. Some people like it. Some people don't. If you belong to the latter, this could be the midrange handset for you.

Although Samsung has yet to formally introduce this device, many details about its imaging capabilities have started surfacing online.

If you look at the photo above, it's clear that the Galaxy A6+ will have a Dual Rear Camera module. According to insiders, this set-up enabled Live Focus effect on portraits, product shoots, or food photography, wherein the background of the subject is beautifully blurred.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro had stellar low light camera performance and I am expecting this refresh to have that as well.

For those who love to take selfies as I do, the smartphone is said to have a high-resolution front-facing camera that's accompanied by Soft LED Flash that's truly handy when snapping self-portraits or groufies in low to zero lighting conditions.

Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy A6+ is expected to run its highly-customized Android Oreo operating system with a 14nm Exynos 7870 processor and have a 4GB RAM plus 64GB ROM combination.

Finally, for the pricing, I'm guessing that this model would fall in the range of around Php 19,000 to Php 22,000 given that A-Series Galaxy models tend to have a higher SRP than J-Series ones. But that's just me. I'd love for Samsung to price this one really competitively when it arrives just to make the midrange bracket even more interesting. For me, Php 17,000 to Php 18,000 would be good -- considering the current prices of its main competitors.
