Huawei P20, P20 Pro, and Pro Lite Launch in the Philippines in Photos

On Saturday - April 28, 2018, Chinese tech company Huawei officially launched its three 2018 flagship level Android smartphones here in the Philippines through a media and consumer event held at the Atrium of SM Mall of Asia.

The event started at 1PM with the Huawei's current celebrity endorser Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach introducing the Huawei P20, Pro Pro, and P20 Lite.

Sadly, I wasn't able to catch that part of the program as I was still in a family gathering at that time. Nonetheless, I still did my best to catch the latter part of event and luckily, I arrived just in time to snap these photos.

At this point, it's clear that SM Mall of Asia is the preferred consumer launch venue of Huawei Philippines for its mobile devices. The best-selling Huawei Nova 2i and Nova 2 Lite were also launched here.

The company had actual, working demo units that potential buyers could play with at the display area.

Aside from trade marketers who were at the venue to inform buyers about the key features of the handsets, Huawei also offered free pamphlets to consumers where they can read about the main selling points and technical specifications of the devices that are being offered.

Huawei fans who purchased their P20 Pro, P20, and P20 Lite units at the event got exclusive freebies from the company, including a Bluetooth speaker.

There were also booths where attendees got to try out some of the main features of these stellar cameraphones.

Huawei P20 Pro is capable of shooting HD videos at a whopping 960 frames per second.

This setting allows for super smooth slow-motion recording that can be tested in this booth with a toy race-track.

Looking at promotional materials of the company for the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, it seems that Portrait Mode with adjustable shallow depth of field effect is the key selling point of the former while 5X lossless hybrid zoom is the main feature of the latter.

Shallow depth of field effect or Bokeh - made possible by the Dual Camera Module of the P20 - can also be used to enhance product or food photography, which Huawei showcased in this booth.

Many Huawei fans purchased their devices during the event itself. Some signed up for postpaid plans at partner networks' booths while others simply picked up their pre-ordered units.

Huawei P20 Pro is the first handset in the world to have a Triple Leica Camera system. The phone's three optics all work together to enable stellar imaging performance in various lighting conditions and settings as well as 5X lossless zoom through the 80mm focal length of the third shooter.

This booth lets buyers try out the top-notch zooming capabilities of the Huawei P20 Pro.

Of the three smartphones that were launched at the event, Huawei P20 Pro is the one that I'm most interested in -- for the most obvious reasons.

I think the best way to enjoy Huawei P20 Pro is to bundle it with an equally amazing postpaid plan that will power it with big data and reliable mobile services. Check out Huawei P20 Pro Smart Postpaid GigaX Plan hero bundle.

If you prefer the more affordable yet equally gorgeous Huawei P20, Smart Postpaid also has a good hero bundle for it. You can get the device powered 4.5GB of Open Acess data, 10GB for video streaming, Unli SMS to All Networks, and 50 Minutes of All-Net calls for just PHP 1,699 per month for 24/mos.

Huawei Philippines also showcased all the accessories that they have for the Huawei P20 Series.

For me, the most eye-catching piece was the Huawei Bluetooth speaker that has an attractive minimalist look.

I'll show you all the accessories displayed at the event in a separate TechPinas blog post -- so please stay tuned!

I heard Huawei Philippines was able to get total sales amounting to PHP 100 Million just from the first day of P20, P20 Pro, and P20 Lite's availability in our country. So I guess we can call this event a "Big Success".

Congratulations, Huawei! Cheers, Team Huawei Philippines!
