OnePlus 6 Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Six Cool Features

The 2018 iteration to OnePlus' flagship killer Android smartphone is definitely coming to the Philippines.

That's what Mr. Charles Paw, CEO and President of Digits Trading Corporation - the leading distributor of OnePlus handsets in the Philippines, told me in our conversation on Facebook earlier this week.

As such, I believe it's only a matter of weeks now before Pinoy consumers can get their hands on the much-anticipated OnePlus 6 at all Digital Walker Stores nationwide.

There's no local price schedule yet for the three variants of this model -- but historically, Digital Walker has stayed true to the international SRPs of OnePlus phones, offering them for just the converted peso amount.

Personally, I think there are six things that are special about OnePlus 6.

1. OnePlus 6's display is a lot bigger compared to that of OnePlus 5T but what's amazing is that the phones have more or less the same footprint. This was made possibly by the tall 19:9 aspect ratio of the 2018 model's 6.28 inch AMOLED display. Sure, it now has a notch -- but at least, the larger screen provides for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

2. If you don't like the notch, you'd be glad to know that OnePlus' Oxygen OS interface lets you hide it with a black bar on top.

3. OnePlus 6 is the first handset from the company to have a luxurious glass-metal-glass enclosure as opposed to a full-metal frame. The back plate is crafted from scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and is available in two finishes, one is glossy and other has a satin or slightly matte texture.

4. The handset features a Dual Rear Camera module, consisting of a 16MP f/1.6 shooter with 1/2.6" sensor and a 20MP f/1.6 cam with a smaller 1/2.8" sensor. The first one has Optical Image Stabilization along with Gyro-EIS which greatly helps in reducing blur in images due to shaking. It's also particularly useful in recording steady videos even while walking.

5. The 16 MP f/2.0 camera in front also incorporates a FullHD 30fps video recorder with Gyro-EIS. This means that not only can this cam take clear and crisp selfies but it should also be good for shooting vlogs while walking around travel destinations because of the built-in stabilization feature.

OnePlus 6 will be out in three colors, namely, Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White.

6. As expected, OnePlus 6 is still right up with the most expensive 2018 flagship Android smartphones in terms of raw power and beastly gaming performance. This device runs its heavily customized Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with 10nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 top-of-the-line mobile processor, which is complemented by either 6GB or 8GB RAM plus a choice of 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB non-expandable onboard storage.

Looking at the price schedule of OnePlus 6 variants in the US, which you can see below - along with the TechPinas Price Guesstimates for the Philippies, I think the 6GB RAM / 128GB ROM version gives the most bang for the buck. But hey, that's just me. Let me know your thoughts about OnePlus 6 and its three variants via our comments section below.
