Smart Records Zero Dropped Calls in NTC Metro Manila Tests, Achieves 377 Mbps Peak Speed

Smart Zero Dropped Calls
Smart delivers reliable voice connectivity and impressive mobile broadband speeds in the latest network quality tests conducted by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) across Metro Manila.

  • Zero Dropped Calls: Smart achieved a 0% average call drop ratio in the NTC's latest Metro Manila drive tests, surpassing the regulator's requirement of below 2%.
  • 377 Mbps Peak Speed: Smart recorded a peak mobile broadband speed of 377 Mbps along San Francisco Street in Mandaluyong City.
  • Strong Network Performance: Smart also earned a "Good" rating in the DICT's September 2026 Oplan Bantay Signal report and received Ookla's Best Mobile Video Experience recognition for the first half of 2026.

Mobile connectivity has become an essential part of everyday Filipino life, whether for keeping in touch with family, coordinating work, attending online meetings, or enjoying digital entertainment. With consumers increasingly relying on their smartphones for communication, dependable network performance remains a major consideration when choosing a mobile service provider.

In the latest real-world quality-of-service tests conducted by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) across Metro Manila, Smart Communications, Inc. delivered encouraging results, recording zero dropped calls and achieving a peak mobile broadband speed of 377 Mbps in Mandaluyong City.

These findings highlight Smart's continued efforts to strengthen its mobile network and provide subscribers with a more reliable connectivity experience, particularly in densely populated urban areas where network demand can be especially high.

Zero Dropped Calls in NTC Metro Manila Drive Tests

One of the most significant findings from the NTC's latest drive tests was Smart's average call drop ratio of zero percent.

This means that no dropped calls were recorded in the measured test conditions, allowing Smart to comfortably meet the regulator's prescribed call drop ratio threshold of below 2%.

For everyday subscribers, this is an encouraging indicator of voice-call reliability. Dropped calls can be particularly frustrating during important business conversations, family emergencies, or situations where uninterrupted communication is necessary.

While actual network performance may still vary depending on location, signal conditions, device compatibility, and network congestion, the NTC findings provide a positive assessment of Smart's voice services in the areas covered by the tests.

Smart Records 377 Mbps Peak Mobile Broadband Speed

Beyond voice-call reliability, Smart also demonstrated strong mobile data performance during the NTC assessment.

The operator recorded a peak mobile broadband speed of 377 Mbps along San Francisco Street in Mandaluyong City, reflecting the network's capability to deliver high-speed connectivity under favorable conditions.

Such speeds can support data-intensive activities including high-definition video streaming, large file downloads, cloud-based productivity, and other online applications that require substantial bandwidth.

It is worth emphasizing, however, that 377 Mbps represents a peak recorded speed rather than the average experience of all Smart subscribers across Metro Manila.

Smart Reaffirms Commitment to Network Improvements

Despite the encouraging results, Smart acknowledges that maintaining network reliability requires continuous assessment, investment, and coordination with government regulators.

Debbie Hu, FVP and Head of Network Build and Implementation at PLDT and Smart, shared the company's commitment to addressing remaining areas for improvement.

"Our zero-percent call drop ratio in the latest NTC tests is a positive result for voice-call reliability. We remain committed to working closely with the NTC to assess network performance, address areas for improvement, and deliver a more dependable mobile experience for our customers," said Hu.

This ongoing collaboration is important as mobile network operators work to accommodate increasing data consumption and evolving customer expectations.

DICT Oplan Bantay Signal Report Shows Positive Results

Smart's latest NTC performance is complemented by findings from the Department of Information and Communications Technology's (DICT) September 2026 Oplan Bantay Signal report.

Under this separate assessment, Smart maintained its "Good" overall network performance rating, earning a score of 80.3 and recording an average download speed of 52.22 Mbps.

The result positioned Smart as the fastest mobile network under the DICT assessment.

Another notable achievement was Smart's record of zero crisis cities nationwide for the fifth consecutive month. According to the report, all measured cities exceeded the 15 Mbps download speed benchmark.

These findings suggest that Smart's network improvements are not limited to Metro Manila, with positive performance indicators also recorded across other evaluated locations nationwide.

Ookla Recognizes Smart for Best Mobile Video Experience

Adding to these achievements, global connectivity intelligence company Ookla recently recognized Smart for delivering the Best Mobile Video Experience in the Philippines during the first half of 2026.

Smart earned a Video Score of 72.82, the highest among mobile operators in the country under Ookla's assessment.

This recognition is particularly relevant as video streaming, short-form content, video calls, and social media continue to account for a significant portion of smartphone usage among Filipinos.

Taken together, the NTC, DICT, and Ookla results provide encouraging indicators of Smart's performance across voice calls, mobile broadband connectivity, and video experiences.

For Filipino consumers, these achievements reinforce the importance of reliable connectivity in an increasingly digital lifestyle. For Smart, they also establish performance benchmarks that the company must continue to maintain and improve as subscriber needs evolve.
