Samsung Galaxy J7 Philippines Price is Php 12,990 : Full Specs, Antutu Benchmark Score, Key Features

With display measuring 5.5 inches across and donning an official suggested retail price of Php 12,990, Samsung Galaxy J7 is the biggest and most expensive member of the Korean Giant's J-Series smartphones that specifically target budget-conscious consumers.

And just like the slightly smaller Samsung Galaxy J5, the J7 phablet is also made for users who love to take selfies as its front camera also has Soft LED flash letting you take self-photos even in low to zero lighting conditions.

But what I particularly like about this release is that it allows Pinoys to experience good handset ergonomics, decent internal hardware, and features that are previously reserved only for flagship level releases by Samsung on a smartphone with a fairly pocket-friendly price.

As you can see in these photos, Samsung Galaxy J7's design language is largely similar to one of Samsung's best selling phone models ever, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from 2012;

You get the same 'pebble' inspired rounded look and chrome-plated accents as well as the camera module that slightly protrudes on the upper portion of the back plate. You may say the look is kinda dated but frankly, it still works.

The face of the device, nonetheless, bears a resemblance with more recent Samsung phones like the Galaxy S5 and Note3. The capacitive multitasking key and oblong home button underneath the massive 5.5-inch HD SuperAMOLED panel - which is a real treat to get on a Galaxy model in this price point, mind you - as well as the slim side bezels will instantly tell you that the J7 is a recent release.

To be completely fair, Samsung Galaxy J7's technical specifications are very good for a sub-Php 13,000 handset by a multinational company. This is actually very refreshing and given the rise of Chinese handset makers and local players, I hope that Samsung as well as all other international brands would come up with more phones like this.

Apart from its large display and 5MP front facing shooter with flash, some of SGJ7's key specs include the 13 MegaPixel autofocus camera with f/1.9 aperture for enhanced low light performance, LTE connectivity support, and Dual SIM Dual Standby capability. The phone's removable 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery pack could be bigger given the screen size but considering all else that the handset offers at this price point, it's not something that I can't forgive.

Samsung Galaxy J7 gets an Antutu Benchmark Score in the range of 38,000 to 39,000, which reflects its great gaming performance. This photo is courtesy of RickoDeBest.

At its heart, the Samsung Galaxy J7 model that we have here in the Philippines runs its TouchWiz-flavored Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with 64-Bit Octa Core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex A53 and Mali-T720MP2 GPU based Exynos 7580 chipset (in lieu of Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 inside the Chinese SGJ7 model), has 1.5GB of RAM for multitasking, and comes with 16GB of expandable storage. Again, this set is not bad for midrange Galaxy.

Now available nationwide at all Samsung Concept Stores and authorized retail partners, Samsung Galaxy J7 - I think - is certainly one model you need to check out if you're a budget-conscious consumer who's looking for a phablet by an international company that gives you great value than the amount of money that you spend on it.
