Realme 6i Philippines Unboxing, Release Date, Specs, and Actual Unit Photos

On May 13, 2020, hotshot handset brand Realme will be launching a new Android smartphone model in the Philippines which will surely delight Pinoy gadget fans who are a bit short on budget but are longing to purchase a new device that delivers great value for money, especially in these hard times.

Although I can't disclose its official suggested retail price just yet, the all-new Realme 6i is expected to cost just slightly more than its predecessor, the best-selling Realme 5i which sold for PHP 6,990 when it was launched earlier this year.

True to its "value for money" proposition, Realme 6i has four main selling points that are relevant to today's young consumers: 48 MegaPixel AI Quad Camera, Helio G80 Processor, 5,000 mAh Massive Battery, and 18W Quick Charge. All of which are clearly printed at the bottom of the handset's familiar yellow-orange packaging.

Lifting the lid of the box, we are greeted by a heart-warming message printed on a paper sleeve containing documentation: "Hey, welcome to realme Family"

Opening it further, we see another note: "Let's embrace a new journey"

Below that, there's this metal pin that you'll need for ejecting the phone's Dual nanoSIM and microSD card Triple Slot tray.

The sleeve also includes this small Important Information Guide booklet that gives you relevant security details about the phone.

If you have time, I suggest you read the Quick Guide as it provides a good overview of the Realme 6i, its buttons and ports, as well as all of its key technical specifications.

I think it's great that Realme had already included this free soft gel case in the package so you won't have to buy one separately. Great job, Realme! Thanks for this!

The travel charger is rather chunky -- but it's good that it already supports up to 2A or 18W Fast Charging, which is one of the main features of the Realme 6i.

This is the USB Type C cable that you'll need to charge the handset or to transfer files inside it to a desktop or laptop computer.

Finally, this it the Realme 6i handset itself.

This is my complete Realme 6i Review Unit Package. I believe these are also the contents of the official retail pack of this model for the Philippine market. Again, we have the Important Information Guide, the Quick User Guide or Manual, the Metal Pin for the SIM Card Tray, the Soft Gel Case, the Travel Charger, the USB Type C cord, and finally, the Realme 6i smartphone.

Now, join me as I take a closer look at the Realme 6i and give you a rundown of its technical specifications or selling points.

This handset sports a 6.52-inch HD+ 720 x 1600 pixels IPS display that has very thin bezels on the top part as well as the sides. The bezel on the chin or bottom is not as thin as on the other sides but it doesn't really bother me. If anything, it prevents me from accidentally touching the virtual navigation buttons when I'm holding the phone.

Above the screen, there's a small notch housing a 16 MegaPixel f/2.0 front-facing camera for taking selfies and recording FullHD vlogs. This represents a clear upgrade from the Realme 5i's 8MP front snapper.

Flipping the phone over, we see the eye-catching look of its backplate.

Imagined by Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, Realme 6i's rear panel glows with multiple streaks depending on how light hits it. This was achieved through a meticulous spray coating process and repetitive machine polishing. The result is an advanced visual matte effect that's truly a masterpiece in design.

This design language is Realme 6i's distinguishing physical characteristic, which is especially evident when you put it side by side the Realme 5i that has almost the same footprint and Quad rear camera module placement.

Realme 6i is available in two elegant colors, namely, Cream White and - what I have here - Green Tea.

On the right side of Realme 6i's shell, we see the power button and on its left side, the company placed the hidden SIM card tray as well as the Volume Up and Down buttons.

As on the Realme 5i, the top panel of Realme 6i is also clean. No ports and no hole for a microphone.

Finally, at the bottom tip, we see the loudspeaker, the microphone, the 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting your wired headphones, and finally the USB Type C port, which many Realme fans were looking for on the Realme 5i.

This port, which is more convenient to use than microUSB 2.0, enables Realme 6i's 18W Fast Charge feature and lets the user transfer files faster to a computer.

Jumping back to Realme 6i's Quad Rear Camera, this set-up includes the following:

1. 48 MegaPixels, f/1.8 Aperture, 1/2.25", 0.8µm, PDAF

This is the most powerful of the bunch when it comes to everyday point-and-shoot photography and when taking images in challenging lighting conditions -- thanks to high resolution, large sensor, and wide aperture. It also represents a notable upgrade from the Realme 5i's 12 MegaPixel main shooter at the back.

2. 8 MegaPixels, f/2.3, 13mm Ultra-Wide Lens, 1/4.0", 1.12µm

This one is ideal for taking architectural and landscape shots as the ultra-wide-angle lens captures scale nicely. You can also use this for conveniently snapping photos of large groups of people without having to take several steps back.

3. 2 MegaPixels, f/2.4, Macro, 1/5.0", 1.75µm

If you love taking photos of insects or fine details on a larger subject, you will appreciate having this macro camera at your disposal.

4. 2 MegaPixels, f/2.4, 1/5.0", 1.75µm, Depth Sensor

Finally, this fourth camera enables Realme 6i's Portrait Mode that lets you blur the background to highlight the subject and make for a more visually pleasing image.

Inside its attractive shell, this device runs its Realme UI customized Android 10 operating system with a 12nm 2GHz Octa Core Mediatek Helio G80 Processor that's delivers 35% better performance that the previous model from the Taiwanese chipset maker. This processor also incorporates a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU that gives the user 25% better performance than its predecessor for improved image quality and more stable frame rate when playing mobile games.

My Realme 6i review came with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be easily expanded using the Dedicated microSD card slot. No need to sacrifice the phone's Dual SIM Capability just to get more space for large files.

Like all Realme smartphones, you will enjoy Google Services on the Realme 6i that includes access to Google Play Store where you can download your favorite applications and games like Mobile Legends Bang Bang which runs smoothly on this smartphone even without Ultra Mode.

Finally, Realme 6i is powered by a massive 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery pack that delivers stellar battery life or in my case, at least two days of uptime with heavy use. If you hate always carrying a powerbank or charging your smartphone in the middle of the day just to be sure that it will still have enough juice on your commute home, you will definitely love this feature as I do. What's even better is that Realme 6i now supports 18W fast charging, which - simply put - means that even if it has a big battery, it won't take too long to charge it.

So there you go, TP Friends! That's all I can share for now about the Realme 6i. Off hand, I can tell you that I highly recommend this new smartphone from our partner brand. I like it and I'm confident that you will feel the same way about the phone you get it for yourself or a loved one. Stay tuned for updates.
