Canon Philippines Starts 2025 CSR Push with Coastal Cleanup of Baseco Beach in Tondo, Manila
Canon Philippines kicks off its 2025 CSR journey with a coastal cleanup
at Baseco Beach, empowering employees and partnering with ASSIST and DENR
to champion environmental stewardship.
- Sustainability Commitment: Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. launches its 2025 CSR roadmap with a Baseco Beach cleanup, highlighting its long-term sustainability mission.
- Employee Empowerment: Around 50 Canon PH employees volunteered to remove coastal waste, proving corporate responsibility starts from within.
- Educational Engagement: Environmental partners ASSIST and DENR facilitated learning sessions on segregation and coastal protection.
In the heart of Tondo, Manila, the shoreline of Baseco Beach recently
saw more than just crashing waves. Volunteers from
Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. — employees with rolled-up sleeves
and trash bags in hand — joined forces for a coastal cleanup drive that also
marked the start of Canon’s 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
efforts. Collaborating with the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR) and the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable
Transformation (ASSIST), this initiative signals Canon PH's strong stance on
environmental stewardship.
A Company-Wide Push for a Cleaner Coast
The activity brought together around 50 Canon employees who went beyond
their usual office routines to tackle the mounting problem of plastic waste
and pollution along the coast. They scoured the sands and shallows,
collecting everything from plastic bottles and straws to rubber slippers and
fishing nets. The goal? To help restore the shoreline’s natural state and
protect its fragile ecosystem.
Anuj Aggarwal, President and CEO of Canon Marketing (Philippines),
Inc., emphasized the deeper significance of this initiative:
“This coastal cleanup reflects our collective responsibility to protect
the environment and make a meaningful difference through purposeful
action. At Canon, we believe that building a better future begins with the
steps we take today. This initiative marks just the beginning of our CSR
journey for 2025. With the dedication of our employees and our valued
partners at ASSIST, we aim to inspire more individuals and organizations
to embrace environmental stewardship.”
Learning on the Frontlines of Climate Action
Canon’s cleanup wasn’t just about bagging up trash. In fact, it also doubled
as a learning session for all involved. Representatives from DENR and ASSIST
led short educational talks right at the cleanup site, engaging volunteers
on urgent issues such as marine pollution, ecological damage, and how
everyday decisions can have long-term environmental impacts.
They also walked participants through waste segregation best practices and
how recycling at home and in the workplace could ripple into bigger positive
changes for communities. For many volunteers, these on-the-ground lessons
added valuable context to the visible waste they were collecting —
reinforcing that prevention is just as important as cleanup.
More Than Imaging: Canon’s Broader CSR Roadmap
Canon’s involvement in environmental and social advocacy doesn’t stop at one
cleanup. The company has laid out a broader roadmap for 2025 that revolves
around three key areas: sustainability, community empowerment, and
technological innovation.
This CSR kickoff mirrors the brand’s long-held philosophy of “Kyosei” —
living and working together for the common good. Over the years, Canon has
established itself as more than just a name in imaging technology. With
multiple recognitions under its belt, including the Gold Bagwis Seal of
Excellence, Canon continues to show how industry leaders can also lead by
example in creating a positive social and environmental impact.
The Baseco Beach initiative stands as a strong first step in Canon’s CSR
journey this year. By enabling employees to be part of something greater than
themselves and collaborating with expert organizations like ASSIST and DENR,
Canon is setting the tone for what responsible, engaged corporate citizenship
can look like in 2025 and beyond.
More importantly, efforts like these ripple outward — motivating other
companies, local communities, and even individuals to take part in protecting
our planet. In a time when climate concerns feel overwhelming, Canon’s
initiative proves that the right mix of hands-on involvement and informed
action can be both inspiring and effective.
From the shoreline of Baseco to boardrooms and barangays, Canon is showing
that innovation and responsibility can — and should — go hand in hand.
