Samsung Galaxy S5 represents the latest and the best innovations that the company has to offer in this product category. Not only does it come with an updated design language and a powerful processor but it also features a slew of imaging innovations, a finger scanner, a heart rate sensor, fast network connectivity support, and a unique battery saving feature.

Below the device's brilliant 5.1-inch Full HD SuperAMOLED display, right on the home button, you can access the finger scanner to unlock the smartphone without having to type in your password or swipe a security pattern.

At the back, we'll find the 16 MegaPixel camera with ISOCELL sensor - for enhanced low-light capability - and LED flash and the UltraHD 30fps module. Located just below that is the new heart rate sensor, which works with the phone's S Health application.

Samsung Galaxy S5 has the world’s fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds and features High Dynamic Range (HDR), which reproduces natural light and color with striking intensity at any circumstances. The new Selective Focus capability allows users to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the backgroung. With this feature, consumers no longer need a special lens kit to create a shallow depth of field (DOF) or Bokeh effect.

Looks-wise, the 2014 flagship's form factor is largely the same as that of its predecessor. However, it now has a ridged faux metal side frame and soft-textured back cover with dot matrix impressions. Also, unlike the regular SGS4, SGS5 is IP67 certified to be dust and water resistant.

Samsung Galaxy S5 supports the LTE bands of both Smart Communications and Globe Telecom. And thanks to its removable 2,800 mAh Li-Ion pack and battery saving features, you can enjoy ultra-fast connection speeds for an extended period on the phone.

On top of that, the phone comes with an innovative Ultra Power Saving Mode - which you can turn on simply by going to the Battery Settings - that turns the display to black and white, and shuts down all unnecessary features to minimize the battery consumption even more!

Inside the shell, Samsung Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system skinned by the company's TouchWiz user interface with its Quad Core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. It handles multitasking with 2 GB of RAM and has 16 GB of ROM that can be beefed up using the phone's microSD card slot supporting up to 64 GB. The combination of these innards give this handset an Antutu Benchmark Score in the range of 35,000 to 36,000.

SGS5 will be available at all Samsung Concept Stores and authorized retail partners nationwide as well as via its network carriers starting on April 11, 2014. The official suggested retail price of the 16GB variant is Php 34,990 and you can get in four colors, namely, Electric Blue, Charcoal Black, Copper Gold, and Shimmery White.

At the party following Samsung Galaxy S5's announcement, I got the chance to have a conversation with Mr. Coco Domingo, the Product Marketing Head of Samsung Philippine's Mobile and IT Business. He gave me an exclusive full demo and quick specs rundown of the SGS5 and the very svelte head-turner Samsung Galaxy Gear Fit! I got the whole thing on video and I hope you can check it out, TP Friends.

You can get Samsung Galaxy Gear Fit with its swappable strap for only Php 9,000, which I think is already a steal considering that the device represents a number of industry leading innovations by the Korean Giant, most notable of which is the curved display.
