CloudFone Excite 400dx Price Php 2,999, Complete Specs, Unboxing, Ships With Two Battery Packs and Covers

Two years ago, local electronics company CloudFone had its first monster best-seller in the form of CloudFone Thrill 430x, which made its online debut on TechPinas. Remember that release, TP Friends?

That handset was loved by many mainly because of its ginormous 4160 mAh Li-Ion battery pack that was capable of delivering up to a staggering 1000 hours of standby time, 40 hours of talk time on 3G, and up to 100 hours of music playback!

Since then, CloudFone has come to be known by Pinoy gadget fans as the local handset brand that specializes in delivering the longest smartphone uptime, which is a very valuable consumer insight.

This year, to reinforce this brand reputation, Cloudfone is releasing - in retail outlets - the very affordable CloudFone Excite 400dx, which brings that long-lasting battery power within everyone’s reach. This handset was previously only available as a bundled phone with Globe Postpaid Plans.

Quoting the company, "Last year in 2013, while the smartphone industry was being bombarded by more and more cores, bigger and bigger screens, and other wonderful specs, CloudFone shook the ground by heading towards the direction often overlooked, but has always been a great concern for most: Battery Life. Although stronger specs are important, they’ll be of no use once your battery runs out. CloudFone addressed this problem through the launch of the CloudFone Thrill 430x, followed by the release of CloudFone Thrill 530qx and CloudFone Thrill 400qx, completing their full line-up of monster battery life smartphones, the CloudFone Power Series. All of these smartphones offer more than 4000 mAh battery power which means each device holds up to 3 times more battery power than the average smartphone. This amount of battery power in smartphones was absolutely unheard of before and led to a great response from consumers making the CloudFone Power Series a huge success."

So what's so special about CloudFone Excite 400dx, you ask? Our friends from CloudFone share, "The interchangeable batteries are hard to miss. First of all, it offers you a 3,000 mAh battery which will last you up to 1 full day of heavy usage and 2-3 days of regular usage. On a regular smartphone, heavy usage of calling, texting, browsing, chatting, tethering, viewing, listening and gaming will probably last you only around half a day but on the CloudFone Excite 400dx, you can do all that and more without having to worry about your battery lasting the whole day! It doesn’t just stop there because it also offers you an extra 1,400 mah battery to help you power through your daily tasks and even play some games on the side."

Yes, you read that right! Just like its older quad core sibling - the CloudFone Thrill 400qx, Excite 400dx ships with two battery packs!

If you run out of power, you just need to switch up the batteries along with their corresponding back covers and you’re good to go. It’s hard to maximize your smartphone experience if you don’t have the battery power to handle it but the CloudFone Excite 400dx has got you covered in that department.

If you want a thin smartphone that fits nicely in the pocket and you're not really a power user, use the 1,400 mAh battery pack.

If you often use specs-intensive games and applications on your handset or if you simply don't like regularly charging your device before the day ends, use 400dx's bigger and thicker 3,000 mAh battery pack.

Obviously, the bigger battery pack will make the phone thicker and heavier. There's that compromise -- and it's all up to you to choose which one you should make.

You all know how paranoid I am when it comes to my gadgets' uptime. Heck, I even go out of my way to purchase extended battery packs in Hong Kong and extra large powerbanks from my favorite online gadget store, Kimstore. Needless to say, I'd prefer to use the 3,000 mAh pack on the CloudFone Excite 400dx. Yes, it's going to be thicker but I won't mind.

TP Friends, the phone's dual batteries aren't the only thing that's interesting about this release. Given its low price point, I'm quite surprised that it also has rather decent technical specifications and features, including the 4-inch WVGA display, 5 MegaPixel main camera without flash, VGA front cam, VGA video recorder, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, 1.2 GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU and 500 MHz Mali-400 MP1 GPU based MediaTek MT6572 processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot supporting up to 32 GB.

CloudFone Ecite 400dx is now available at all CloudFone concept stores and kiosks across the country. You can purchase it for only Php 2,999 (believe it!) and, for that amount, you will get the retail package - shown in the photo above - inclusive of the two battery packs, two back covers, and a free screen protector. Not bad, eh?
