Workato is doubling down on its Southeast Asia expansion with the official launch of its Philippines subsidiary, signaling a stronger commitment to helping enterprises embrace AI-led transformation. Announced on April 22, the move positions the country not just as a local market, but as a strategic hub for global customer success, support, and business operations.
The establishment of Workato’s in-country presence reflects the growing importance of the Philippines within the company’s Asia-Pacific strategy. It also highlights the increasing demand from enterprises seeking to unify their systems, data, and workflows as they move deeper into AI adoption.
A Strategic Market at an Inflection Point
The Philippines continues to stand out as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies. Enterprises across sectors such as financial services, retail, business process outsourcing, and the public sector are ramping up investments in technology to stay competitive.
As AI becomes a central pillar of transformation, organizations are recognizing that success goes beyond simply deploying models. The real challenge lies in building a strong foundation of connectivity that ties together data, applications, and processes.
Workato’s platform addresses this need by enabling enterprises to operate within a unified and governed ecosystem. This ensures that AI initiatives are not isolated experiments, but scalable solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
Vijay Tella, CEO and Co-founder of Workato, emphasized the company’s long-standing connection with the country and its future potential. "The Philippines has been part of Workato's story since our earliest days, and it's now one of Southeast Asia's most compelling enterprise markets. Organizations here are ambitious and digitally forward, and as AI transformation becomes a key priority, they need infrastructure that connects their entire enterprise. Workato was built for this moment."
Local Leadership to Drive Growth
To lead its Philippine operations, Workato has appointed Tyrone Borromeo as Managing Director. With over 25 years of experience in enterprise technology, Borromeo brings deep expertise in integration platforms, API management, and cloud solutions.
His appointment underscores Workato’s strategy of investing in local, market-native leadership to drive meaningful growth. Having previously served in senior roles at global technology firms, Borromeo is tasked with expanding Workato’s enterprise customer base, strengthening its partner ecosystem, and building a high-performing local team.
Sharing his perspective on the opportunity ahead, Tyrone Borromeo said, "Philippine enterprises are at an exciting juncture. The appetite for AI-driven transformation is real, and the urgency to get it right has never been higher. Workato's commitment here runs deep. This country is home not only to the enterprises we serve, but to the global customer success, support, and business functions that power Workato worldwide. To now build our commercial presence in the place that has long powered Workato behind the scenes — that's a chapter I'm proud to lead."
Enterprise Adoption Gains Momentum
Workato’s expansion comes at a time when Philippine enterprises are actively modernizing their operations. Companies are increasingly turning to integration and automation platforms to streamline workflows and unlock new efficiencies.
Among early adopters, major organizations such as Jollibee Foods Corporation, Philippine Airlines, and Prince Retail Group of Companies have been recognized as Pioneer Customer Awardees. These companies are leveraging Workato’s platform to connect critical systems and enable seamless enterprise operations.

At Philippine Airlines, the adoption of integrated workflows has already delivered tangible results. Angelique C. Tinsay, Vice President of IT Operations, shared how the platform supports their evolving needs. "At Philippine Airlines, we are committed to building an enterprise as agile as the world we operate in. Over the past years, our adoption has advanced considerably with integrations across HR and employee operations now executing a larger volume of transactions each month. This is an infrastructure that scales with ambition, and we look forward to continuing to push boundaries with Workato."
Investment in Talent and Ecosystem
Backing its Philippine expansion is a clear investment in talent and infrastructure. Workato has established offices in key business districts, including PBCom Tower in Makati and Axis Tower in Alabang, both known for their concentration of enterprise and technology talent.
Looking ahead, the company plans to grow its local workforce by 20 to 30 percent by the end of 2026. This hiring push will focus on roles across product support, customer success, solutions consulting, and partner management.
Workato is also adopting a partner-led approach to growth in the Philippines. By collaborating with local systems integrators, technology alliances, and reseller partners, the company aims to accelerate market adoption while delivering tailored solutions to enterprises.
Building a Stronger AI Ecosystem
Beyond hiring and partnerships, Workato has been actively engaging the local tech community. Over the past two years, the company has sponsored industry events, hosted executive forums, and conducted platform training sessions for enterprise professionals.
More than 500 participants have already taken part in these initiatives, reflecting strong interest in agentic AI and enterprise automation. Additional events are planned throughout 2026, further strengthening Workato’s presence in the country.
At the core of these efforts is Workato’s Enterprise MCP platform, which enables AI agents to securely interact with enterprise systems. With over 100 managed MCP servers and an enterprise-grade gateway, the platform provides organizations with the infrastructure needed to bridge the gap between AI ambition and real-world execution.
Workato’s official entry into the Philippines marks more than just geographic expansion. It represents a long-term investment in a market that is rapidly embracing digital transformation and AI innovation. By combining local leadership, strategic partnerships, and a strong technology foundation, Workato is positioning itself as a key enabler for enterprises navigating the next phase of their digital journey. As Philippine organizations continue to scale their AI initiatives, the company’s presence ensures they have the tools and support needed to turn ambition into impact.
