Xiaomi Mi MIX in the Philippines : Where To Buy A Unit?

It's new smartphone releases like this that make me wish that Xiaomi was still officially making its products available in the Philippines.

Xiaomi Mi Mix

I mean, just look at it.

Xiaomi Mi MIX flaunts a massive, near-bezel-less 6.4-inch Full HD IPS display and a downright sleek polished ceramic shell that makes it look absolutely stunning when viewed from any angle.

And not only that. It's also a beast in terms of what's inside it.

Under the hood, this model its MIUI-skinned Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with a powerhouse Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 incorporating an Adreno 530 GPU, has either 4GB of 6GB of RAM, and comes with 128GB and 256GB non-expandable internal storage options.

I would like to give credit to Top Upload channel on Youtube for all photos in this post.

As for the phablet's imaging capabilities, it's equipped with a 16 MegaPixel autofocus f/2.0 camera at the back that's linked to the gyro sensor for stabilization and a 5MP front cam for selfies. The main shooter can also take 4K videos at 30 frames per second.

In the reviews of this handset that I've read so far, it appears that the performance of the camera is the main point for improvement of this model. I'd love to check that for myself, though.

Other key specs include the fingerprint scanner at the back, non-removable 4,400 mAh Li-Ion battery, USB Type C port, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability (Dual nanoSIM), and 4G LTE support.

But if there's one thing about this device that got me instantly smitten with it, it would have to be the ceramic enclosure.

I've seen videos on Youtube showing just how tough and scratch-resistant it is (at least, versus glazed anodized aluminum or plastic) and off hand, I believe more handset makers should consider using this material in crafting future smartphones.

And there's even a special edition release with matte back plate and gold-plated trimmings, which looks just as stunning.

To this day, I still wonder why Xiaomi has altogether stopped formally releasing products here. Maybe it's the tough competition. Maybe it's lack of commitment. Only Team Xiaomi will know for sure.

But I'm glad my trusted online store, Kimstore - which is also celebrating its 10th year anniversary this year - has decided to make Xiaomi Mi MIX available to Filipinos anywhere in the country. This model is available in only one color - Black - and you can purchase the 4GB+128GB variant from Kim for Php 38,500. I know. That's a tad too hefty given its 3,499 RMB SRP in China but hey, at least, Kim tried to bring it here, giving you an added option for your hard-earned money.
