Apple iPod Touch 2019 Philippines Price, Specs, Features : Is it Worth Buying?

Apart from the very expensive monitor stand, iPad OS, new Mac Pro, and iOS 13, Apple - surprisingly enough - also announced a new version of the iPod Touch at the recently concluded WWDC 2019 held in San Jose, California USA from June 3 to 7.

The 2019 Seventh Generation Apple iPod Touch looks almost identical to the 5th-Gen model released way back in 2012; Having the exact same dimensions, weight, build, and design language.

In fact, this supposedly new release also has the same 4-inch Retina Display, 8 MegaPixel f/2.4 rear camera with BSI sensor and LED flash, 1.2 MegaPixel f/2.2 front cam, FullHD video recorder at the back, and set of connectivity options, namely, WiFi and Bluetooth of the far older model.

The main difference is that the 2019 iPod Touch has more powerful internal hardware headlined by the Apple A10 Fusion processor that also powers the Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus from 2016, 2GB of RAM, and internal storage space of up to 256GB.

If I were to be blunt about it, though, it looks as if Apple had just recycled unsold iPod Touch models from 2012 and beyond, beefing up their innards to make them seem fresh instead of just selling them for a massively discounted price.

Apple continues to position the iPod Touch as an affordable media consumption gadget. As the most budget-friendly iOS device in the market, the new iPod Touch performs twice as fast as before - which is great for mobile gaming - and lets the user enjoy AR features thanks to the Apple A10 Fusion chip.

Apple iPod Touch 2019 is available in three variants with different internal storage sizes. In the Philippines, these are priced at PHP 14,990 for the 32GB version, PHP 21,490 for the 128GB variant, and PHP 27,990 for the 256GB model. You can get them in different eye-catching colors, namely, Gold, Red, Blue, Pink, Silver, and Space Gray.

So am I recommending the 7th-Gen iPod Touch? Is it worth buying?

Well, needless to say, you can get an Android smartphone with a bigger display, better front and back cameras, more RAM and internal storage, larger battery, and better connectivity options for less than PHP 15,000. I guess if you don't really care too much about Apple or if iOS isn't really your preferred platform, it's a no-brainer.

Now, if you're an Apple fan, it's a bit trickier. If you're getting it for your kid, you might also want to consider checking out the new Apple iPad Mini, starting at PHP 23,990 for the 64GB version, since it has a bigger and more immersive display. If PHP 15,000 is all you can spend on your first iOS device, I would advise you to also consider buying a second hand Apple iPhone 7 Plus or even Apple iPhone 8 via Facebook Marketplace -- just make sure you choose a trust-worthy seller. Finally, if you're an Apple collector or if you just want to always have the Cupertino company's latest products and you have money to burn, by all means - go ahead and buy it.
