Realme 5 Philippines Unboxing and Actual Unit Photos, Complete Specs, Key Features

Arriving early in October 2019, the all-new Realme 5 is the follow-up to the popular Realme 3, which became a big hit in the Philippines because of its affordable gaming smartphone proposition.

This model is also the more affordable and slightly less powerful sibling of the Realme 5 Pro that's slated to supersede the best-selling Realme 3 Pro from earlier this year.

Although it retains the great gaming handset genes of its predecessor, the Realme 5 represents a true upgrade in at least five ways.

First, this device sports a larger 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display compared to the 6.3-inch panel of the Realme 3.

A bigger screen doesn't only deliver more viewing real estate for photos, videos, and games but also makes thumb-typing faster and more accurate for enhanced productivity on the go.

Second - and this is perhaps the most notable and useful improvement implemented on the Realme 5 - this refresh now comes with four cameras at the back, which is quite a leap from the Dual Rear Camera set-up of the Realme 3.

This Quad Camera Module is made up of a 12 MegaPixel f/2.0 primary shooter that's the most capable shooter of the bunch in low light settings, an 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 secondary cam with Ultra-Wide lens for snapping landscape and group shots, a tertiary 2 MegaPixel f/2.4  Dedicated Macro Camera for close-up shots of miniature objects or fine details, and finally, 2 MegaPixel Depth Sensor that enables Portrait Mode that adds background blur so you can highlight your subject further.

This set-up is largely similar to what's on the Realme 5 Pro although the primary camera of that premium model has a 48 MegaPixels resolution and it also has a larger sensor.

Third, Realme 5 comes replete with improved internal hardware that gives you smoother gaming experience and overall mobile performance.

Whereas the Realme 3 had a MediaTek Helio P60 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, the Realme 5 features an 11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset with Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 128GB ROM.

This set of innards represents represents a tremendous upgrade coming from the older model and I'm sure you will appreciate this when you play games such as Mobile Legends Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile on this release.

Oh, and lest I forget, the already sizable storage is even expandable through Realme 5's dedicated microSD card slot. No need to sacrifice Dual SIM capability just to get more space for your files.

Realme 3 already had long uptime with its big 4,230 mAh Li-Po battery pack -- and what's incredible is that the company was able to give Realme 5 an even bigger battery at 5,000 mAh to ensure even more hours of use coming from a full charge.

If you hate always plugging your handset to an electrical outlet throughout the day or carrying a brick of a powerbank in your bag, the extended battery life of the Realme 5 will surely put a smile on your face.

This large pack also benefits mobile gamers as they no longer have to worry about quick battery draining that can lead to losses when running resource intensive titles.

Finally, although this phone has an unusually large battery, it's amazing how Realme was able to keep it looking slim and feeling slick in the hand.

Realme 5's high-gloss Crystal Purple and Crystal Blue shells truly give it an air of elegance befitting a corporate setting or a black-tie event.

Although it's not particularly a high-end or ultra-premium model, Realme 5 can certainly stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of them when it comes to aesthetics.

If I got you interested in the Realme 5, here are photos of the actual retail package as well as everything that you will get in the box when you purchase this model.

Of course, you have the unit itself, the travel charger, a microUSB to USB charging cable, and a free soft gel case so you won't have to get one separately.

Sadly, the official retail unit doesn't come with a pair of earphones. I guess that's one of the ways that the company was able to keep the price of this model down.

Speaking of the price, Realme Philippines will officially announce the SRP of the Realme 5 as well as the Realme 5 Pro on October 3, 2019. I heard the price tags will be really enticing to budget conscious Filipino gadget consumers so make sure you stay tuned for the full disclosure.
