TECNO Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 with Lonely Planet Invites Filipinos to Capture Real-Life Moments and Join
TECNO and Lonely Planet officially launch Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 in the Philippines, encouraging mobile photographers to capture authentic moments and real-life stories through the theme “Seeing is Believing.” Here are the five categories that you can join.
- Global Creativity: TECNO and Lonely Planet have officially launched Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, inviting smartphone photographers worldwide to capture authentic and meaningful moments using the TECNO CAMON 50 Series, with major cash prizes and exclusive travel experiences awaiting winners.
- Real Stories: Built around the theme “Seeing is Believing,” this year’s competition encourages creators to focus on genuine emotions, cultures, people, and real-life experiences at a time when AI-generated content continues to dominate online spaces.
- Philippine Spotlight: TECNO Philippines is also introducing a special Filipino-exclusive award category, giving local creators more opportunities to showcase their storytelling skills through both photography and short-form video content.
Sometimes, the most unforgettable photos are not the ones that are overly planned or heavily edited. They are the spontaneous moments that happen naturally, whether it’s a quiet street scene after the rain, a candid smile from a stranger, or the atmosphere of a city late at night. That sense of authenticity is exactly what TECNO wants to celebrate with the newly launched TECNO CAMON 50 Series Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, now officially open in the Philippines in partnership with global travel authority Lonely Planet.
Now on its third year, Shot On CAMON has evolved into more than just a photography competition. This latest edition places a stronger focus on storytelling, exploration, culture, and emotional connection, encouraging participants around the world to capture moments that feel honest, meaningful, and uniquely human.
Under the theme “Seeing is Believing,” the contest officially runs from May 15 to October 11, 2026, inviting smartphone photographers worldwide to submit entries captured using the TECNO CAMON 50 Series. At a time when AI-generated visuals are becoming increasingly common online, TECNO says the competition is meant to celebrate the authenticity of real-life photography and the emotions that come with it.
TECNO and Lonely Planet Promote Authentic Visual Storytelling
One of the biggest highlights of this year’s contest is TECNO’s collaboration with Lonely Planet, one of the world’s most recognizable travel and exploration brands. The partnership expands the competition beyond technology itself and places more emphasis on the people, places, and stories behind every photograph.
As part of the collaboration, three Lonely Planet photographers will contribute original imagery shot using the CAMON 50 Series, while another Lonely Planet photographer will join TECNO’s imaging team as part of the final-round jury panel.
Melissa Killian, Vice President of Integrated Marketing at Lonely Planet, highlighted how meaningful photography often comes from being fully immersed in real-world experiences.
“Great photos are not just about equipment – they are about how deeply the photographer can immerse themselves in a destination. TECNO’s technology makes that immersion easier, helping users stay present, observe more closely and capture meaningful moments as they happen. We are excited to partner on Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 and look forward to seeing how photographers around the world bring their journeys to life.”
The collaboration feels especially fitting for a competition built around travel, culture, emotion, and authentic human experiences rather than heavily manufactured visuals.
Five Categories That Encourage Different Perspectives
Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 introduces five creative categories designed to inspire different ways of seeing and documenting the world. Each category encourages participants to capture real moments, emotions, and perspectives from everyday life and travel.
Faces·Unfiltered focuses on authentic portraits that celebrate individuality and diverse skin tones through natural and candid moments. Whether it’s a quiet close-up portrait or a spontaneous interaction between friends, the category aims to highlight genuine emotion and personality.
Night·Unveiled explores the atmosphere and emotion that emerge after dark, including neon-lit streets, reflections after rain, moonlit environments, and the unique energy of late-night city life.
Meanwhile, Culture·Unscripted focuses on the rhythm of a place as it naturally unfolds through festivals, food experiences, crafts, and spontaneous human interactions.
Snapshot·Unspotted serves as the competition’s telephoto-focused category, encouraging users to capture distant details and fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Perhaps the most interesting category this year is AI·Unimagined. Participants must first capture a real-world image using a TECNO smartphone before creatively transforming it through TECNO’s AI Gallery tools. Both the original image and the AI-styled version must be submitted together, reinforcing the idea that authentic photography remains the starting point of creative expression even in the AI era.
Jack Guo, General Manager of TECNO, explained the thinking behind this year’s theme.
“‘Seeing is Believing’ is both a creative brief for our contestants and a reminder that the most powerful images begin with real life. Through Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, we hope to inspire users around the world to observe more closely, express themselves more freely and celebrate the beauty of authentic moments through photography.”
Big Cash Prizes and Exclusive Philippine Awards
The competition comes with major rewards for participants across several award tiers. One outstanding photographer will receive the TECNO Photography Master prize worth $8,000. Five Gold Prize winners will each receive $3,000, while five Silver Prize winners and five Bronze Prize winners will receive $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
Ten participants will also be selected as TECNO Friends and will receive a CAMON 50 Series smartphone. In addition, the TECNO Photography Master and all five Gold Prize winners will also be invited to an exclusive curated trip to the Philippines sponsored by Lonely Planet.
TECNO Philippines is also introducing the Filipino Special Award, giving local creators additional opportunities to gain recognition. Philippine participants may submit either traditional photo entries or short-form videos through Instagram, Facebook Reels, and TikTok. While video entries are not eligible for global awards, they will automatically qualify for the Philippine-exclusive recognition category.
A total of six CAMON Photography Endorsers in the Philippines will be selected, each receiving a Lonely Planet Bespoke Trip and a CAMON 50 Series smartphone. Five winners will come from image submissions across the contest categories, while one winner will be selected from video submissions.
How Filipinos Can Join the Contest
To participate, users must post photos with a visible TECNO device watermark on Instagram using the hashtags #ShotOnCAMON2026, #TECNOCAMON50Series, and #TECNOPhilippines. Participants must then submit high-resolution versions of their entries through email or through the ShotOnCAMON Gallery on TECNO Philippines’ official website.
TECNO says all submissions must be original content, and duplicate entries will automatically be disqualified. Winning works will eventually be showcased through global media exhibitions, TECNO’s annual photo book, and the brand’s official digital platforms.
