Xiaomi 17T Series with Leica-Powered Telephoto Imaging, Officially Unveiled in Vienna, Austria

Xiaomi 17T Series
Xiaomi 17T Series debuts with dual sizes, Leica-powered telephoto imaging, eye-care display technology, and larger batteries for creators on the move.

  • Leica Imaging: The Xiaomi 17T Series steps up as an imaging-focused flagship lineup, bringing a Leica 5x telephoto camera to both models for the first time in the T Series, along with Leica Live Moment for more expressive photo and video storytelling.
  • Smarter Display: Xiaomi Vision Care makes its debut on the series, combining a bright 1.5K AMOLED display with intelligent eye-care technologies designed to support more comfortable viewing across changing lighting conditions.
  • Bigger Batteries: With silicon-carbon battery technology, up to 7000mAh capacity on the Pro model, and fast charging support across the lineup, Xiaomi is positioning the new T Series as a reliable companion for heavy daily use.

Vienna, Austria became the stage for the unveiling of the Xiaomi 17T Series, composed of the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, as Xiaomi introduced its latest T Series smartphones with a sharper focus on imaging, display comfort, battery endurance, and refined design. For the first time in the T Series, the lineup now comes in dual sizes, giving modern users more flexibility in choosing a device that fits their lifestyle and handling preference.

Leica 5x Telephoto Comes to Both Models

At the heart of the Xiaomi 17T Series is a triple camera system led by a 50MP main camera. The Xiaomi 17T Pro carries an ultra-large 1/1.31-inch sensor, while the Xiaomi 17T comes with a 1/1.55-inch sensor. Both models combine Leica UltraPure optical design with a 1G + 6P hybrid Leica Summilux lens structure, aiming to deliver fine detail, strong clarity, wider dynamic range, and beautifully rendered depth of field.

One of the biggest highlights is the arrival of the Leica 5x telephoto camera across both models. This gives the lineup a more versatile shooting setup, allowing users to capture 50MP images with optical image stabilization, shoot detailed 30cm macro photos, use 10x optical-grade zoom, and reach up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom.

That flexibility means the new phones are built not just for everyday snapshots, but also for creators who want to move between close-up details, portraits, stage scenes, and distant subjects without feeling limited.

Leica Live Moment Adds Motion to Memories

Beyond still images, Xiaomi is introducing Leica Live Moment on the Xiaomi 17T Series. This feature captures not only a single decisive frame, but also the movement and emotion surrounding it. The idea is simple but compelling: some memories are better felt with a bit of motion, context, and atmosphere.

Leica Live Moment is supported across all rear camera focal lengths, helping maintain a consistent Leica visual style whether the user is shooting wide, close, or far. Xiaomi is also bringing newly designed Leica watermarks for these captures, while multiple moments can be combined into shareable collages for social platforms.

Leica Live Portrait extends the feature into Portrait mode, adding natural bokeh while preserving the fluid feeling of motion. For users who enjoy more cinematic content, the Xiaomi 17T Pro gets exclusive live cinematography options, including Ultra-HD Live Moment in 4K and seamless zoom effects through Freestyle or Portrait Live cinematography.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro also introduces Xiaomi Series smartphones’ first 4K 60fps cinematic recording, designed to deliver natural background bokeh for a more immersive video look. Special modes such as Stage help improve shooting in complex lighting, including concerts and performances.

Eye-Care Display for Long Viewing

The Xiaomi 17T Series debuts Xiaomi Vision Care, a display experience that combines medical research and engineering to support more comfortable viewing. The display automatically adapts to ambient lighting and manages blue light, flicker, and motion blur.

Xiaomi says the series is the first to receive TÜV Rheinland quadruple eye-care certification and has also earned Xiaomi’s first TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care certification.

Both models feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with 3500-nit peak brightness, designed to stay clear and color-accurate even under bright outdoor light. The Xiaomi 17T Pro goes further with hardware-level 1-nit minimum brightness for ultra-low-light night viewing.

Smoothness also gets attention. The Pro model supports up to a 144Hz refresh rate, while the base model offers 120Hz. The Xiaomi 17T Pro uses a LIPO packaging solution to achieve equally sized 1.29mm bezels on all four sides, while the Xiaomi 17T adopts a more compact and lightweight design optimized for one-handed use.

Refined Colors and Comfortable Design

Design-wise, Xiaomi is keeping the lineup sleek and modern. The Xiaomi 17T Pro will be available in Deep Blue, Deep Violet, and Black. The Xiaomi 17T comes in Violet, Opal White, Blue, and Black.

Both models feature a refined brushed finish around the sides, a smaller and lower camera module, and micro-curved edges for a smoother in-hand feel. The result is a cleaner silhouette that matches the more premium direction of the series.

More Power, Larger Batteries

Powering the Xiaomi 17T Series is next-generation silicon-carbon battery technology, designed for higher energy density and long-term performance.

Xiaomi 17T

The Xiaomi 17T Pro packs a 7000mAh battery, the largest on a Xiaomi Series smartphone in international markets. Xiaomi says this is a 27 percent increase over the previous generation and can deliver an average of 1.88 days of use for typical users. It supports 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge.

The Xiaomi 17T, despite its more compact form, carries a 6500mAh battery, an 18 percent increase over the previous generation. It supports 67W HyperCharge. Both models also support third-party chargers, with the Pro compatible with 100W PPS and the standard model supporting 50W PPS.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 built on a 3nm process, while the Xiaomi 17T uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra based on a 4nm architecture. Both chipsets promise upgrades in CPU, GPU, and AI performance for multitasking and gaming.

To help sustain performance, Xiaomi includes the 3D IceLoop System, which uses vapor-liquid separation to move heat away from the core chipset and maintain stability during heavier workloads.
