Ragnarok M: Eternal Love Minimum Requirements for Android Smartphone and iPhone Specs

Ever since Gravity Interactive Inc. made Ragnarok M: Eternal Love available to the public practically just a few hours ago, I've been receiving a ton of messages from my readers and followers on social media non-stop about the minimum smartphone specs requirement to run the said game.

To answer the question, I carefully read the description of Ragnarok M in Google Play Store and Apple App Store, however, I didn't really see any recommended mobile processor as well as amount of RAM and storage space or ROM for playing it.

Ragnarok Eternal Love

Frankly, my current daily drivers are 2018 upper midrange and flagship-level smartphones with at least an Octa-Core processor, 800 MHz GPU, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage -- and all of them have no issues running Ragnarok M: Eternal Love.

I understand, though, that I have readers and friends who haven't upgraded to a new handset and they are interested to know if their device can run this much-talked-about, nostalgic title.

So what I did is that I read comments on Facebook by other Filipino mobile gamers who have successfully or unsuccessfully installed the game on their smartphones and I tried to figure out the common technical specification in their devices.

Here's what I found out:

iPhone Ragnarok

For the Apple iPhone, it's clear that models older than the Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are having issues playing Ragnarok M: Eternal Love. As shown in the comments above, Apple iPhone 5S and Apple iPhone 6 users are experiencing lags and crashes even after deleting other heavy titles and freeing up storage.

Note that both Apple iPhone 5S, Apple iPhone 6, and Apple iPhone 6 Plus only have a Dual-Core processor and a measly 1GB of RAM. Apple iPhone 6S also has a Dual-Core processor but it has 70% better graphics performance compared to its predecessor and aside from that, it has 2GB of RAM.

Update as of November 12, 2018: Some of my readers who own an Apple iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, Apple iPhone 7, and 7 Plus are telling me that although they can launch and play the game on their devices, Ragnarok M: Eternal Love is starting to feel sluggish on their handsets. Given this information, I guess the ideal iPhone models for playing Ragnarok M - as of writing - are Apple iPhone 8, Apple iPhone 8 Plus, Apple iPhone X, Apple iPhone XS, Apple iPhone XR, and Apple iPhone XS Max.

Now, for Android users, my findings - based on comments left by Samsung Galaxy smartphone owers - are a bit interesting.

Samsung Galaxy Ragnarok M Eternal Love

In the comments above, I learned that both Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy J6 2018 are capable of running Ragnarok M: Eternal Love with minimal lags and crashes (caused by the buggy 'English Patch' of the game itself, according to the Note3 owner). What's common in these models that they both have an Octa-Core Processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of ROM.

Interestingly enough, an owner of Note3's predecessor - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - appears to have issues playing the game. Although Note2 has similar storage space as the Note3, the older 2012 model merely runs on a Quad Core processor and only has 2GB of RAM.

Based on these findings as well as my conversations with other Ragnarok M: Eternal Love players, I would say that these are this game's minimum specs requirements for smartphones:

For Apple iPhone or iPad:
Processor - At least Apple A9
RAM - At least 2GB
Free Internal Storage - At least 10GB
OS - iOS 7 or later

For Android Smartphones:
Processor - At least 1.5 GHz Octa-Core
RAM - At least 3GB
Free Internal Storage - At least 10GB
OS - Android Marshmallow or later

The minimum size of the game is 1.4GB for Android and 2.1GB for the iPhone so I guess you need to free up thrice or even four times that file size to accommodate the title and to run it smoothly.

Update as of November 18, 2018: My younger brother tried installing Ragnarok M: Eternal Love to his aging OPPO F1 Android smartphone and the game worked. However, he noticed that the game is eating too much of the handset's storage space and it caused crashes. This means that apart from Octa Core processor and at least 3GB of RAM, hefty storage space - preferably more than 10GB - is required to play this title without issues.

Update as of November 30, 2018: The power of an Android smartphone's GPU is also crucial in running Ragnarok M: Eternal Love. I have received reports that a handset with but a 450 MHz Adreno 330 GPU can run the title. Needless to say, smartphones with more powerful GPUs should be able to smoothly play this game.

Update as of December 12, 2018: I have readers who told me that they were able to install and run Ragnarok M: Eternal Love on their handsets which have only 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. However, their devices tend to get very hot after a few minutes of playing the game and they had to use microSD card to free up their phones' internal storage.

If you're still using an older iPhone or Android handset and you really love playing games like this - including Mobile Legends Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile, then I would suggest that - if you can - you should already upgrade to a newer device. After all, there are so many affordable 2018 smartphones that deliver ultra-smooth gaming performance like the Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus, OPPO F9 or F7, Vivo V11 and V11i, Huawei Nova 3i, PocoPhone F1, and Honor Play, among many others. These phones also have high resolution displays (at least, FullHD or 1080p) which really make viewing 3D graphics more fun and engaging. Cheers!
