Technology continues to shape the way people communicate, learn, work, and live, but its long-term impact depends on how responsibly it is developed. As sustainability becomes an increasingly important priority for consumers and industries alike, companies are placing greater emphasis on creating products and business practices that balance innovation with environmental and social responsibility.

Reflecting this commitment, OPPO has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining the company's progress in integrating sustainability into its corporate strategy, products, and global operations. As of May 31, 2026, OPPO's business has expanded to more than 90 countries and regions worldwide, with sustainability remaining a key part of its continued growth.

The report highlights achievements under OPPO's five-pillar sustainability framework, which focuses on Operations and Compliance, Environmental Protection, Caring for Employees, Virtuous Innovation, and Ecosystem Engagement. Together, these pillars support the company's goal of building a healthier, more sustainable ecosystem for customers, partners, employees, and communities worldwide.

Advancing Green Products and Low-Carbon Operations

Environmental responsibility now extends throughout every stage of product development, and OPPO continues to integrate green development into technology innovation, research and development, manufacturing, and supply chain collaboration.

Technology Company Sustainability, OPPO

One important initiative involves conducting comprehensive Product Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for smartphones. These assessments measure environmental impacts throughout every stage of a device's journey, including raw material sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, product usage, and end-of-life recycling.

In 2025, OPPO completed Product Life Cycle Assessments for 23 smartphone models, providing valuable insights that support the design of more environmentally friendly and lower-carbon products.

Packaging also remains an important area of improvement.

During 2025, recycled wastepaper materials were used in the packaging of all OPPO products, representing approximately 43 percent of smartphone packaging materials by total weight. Beginning in Europe, the company also introduced paper-plastic materials made from plant fibers and recycled wastepaper to replace traditional plastics. These environmentally conscious materials accounted for approximately 14 percent of smartphone packaging materials used across the European market.

Beyond product packaging, OPPO continues pursuing meaningful reductions in carbon emissions throughout both its operations and broader value chain.

Over the past three years, carbon emissions from the company's own operations have consistently declined, with emissions falling by an additional 1.22 percent during 2025. OPPO also completed a comprehensive Scope 3 emissions inventory covering eleven major categories, contributing to a further 2.57 percent year-on-year reduction in Scope 3 emissions.

At the same time, renewable electricity usage across OPPO manufacturing facilities increased by nearly 70 percent, further supporting the company's broader carbon reduction goals.

Virtuous Innovation for Digital Inclusion and Healthier Lifestyles

Sustainability extends beyond environmental initiatives.

Guided by its mission, "Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World," OPPO continues transforming technological innovation into practical solutions that promote greater accessibility and healthier living.

Supporting this innovation is a growing intellectual property portfolio that reached 118,000 patent applications and 66,000 granted patents by the end of 2025.

Improving digital inclusion remains a major priority.

ColorOS continues incorporating accessibility-focused design to make smartphones easier to use for individuals with visual, hearing, and motor impairments. During 2025, OPPO optimized more than 30 core ColorOS applications to further improve accessibility across everyday smartphone experiences.

For users with visual impairments, ColorOS offers features such as TalkBack and Image Description, converting on-screen content into spoken audio. Additional accessibility tools including magnification, color correction, and color inversion help improve screen readability.

Meanwhile, users with hearing impairments benefit from features including speech-to-text transcription and flash alerts that make important information easier to receive visually.

Health technology also remains an important area of development.

During 2025, the OPPO Fitness Health Laboratory in Binhaiwan officially began operations as the company's largest sports health research facility worldwide.

The laboratory focuses on research involving exercise, cardiovascular health, sleep quality, lifestyle management, cognitive health, weight management, blood pressure management, and AI-assisted health management.

By combining internal research with collaborations involving leading medical and academic institutions, OPPO aims to transform scientific research into intelligent features that support more personalized, convenient, and proactive health management for users.

Driving Cultural Sustainability Through Global Partnerships

OPPO's sustainability efforts also extend into education, culture, and community development.

Throughout 2025, the company contributed more than 37 million RMB toward public welfare initiatives while continuing partnerships that promote educational opportunities, cultural preservation, and community resilience across multiple regions.

For the second consecutive year, OPPO partnered with Discovery Channel for the "Culture in a Shot" initiative.

Centered on the theme "Celebrate the Moment," the program promotes cultural diversity through mobile photography by highlighting festivals and traditions across fifteen countries. It also encourages users worldwide to document and share their own cultural experiences, helping preserve traditional heritage through modern storytelling.

Educational equity also received continued support through OPPO's partnership with UNESCO.

During 2025, OPPO donated 1,000 tablets to support information technology education for young learners across five countries in Asia and Africa.

In Thailand, teachers and students are using the tablets to study and practice computer programming. Across several African countries where limited hardware has restricted access to digital education, the donated devices are helping expand learning opportunities while supporting greater digital inclusion.

The company's collaboration with UEFA likewise continued throughout the year.

Through its long-term partnership, OPPO launched multiple sports charity projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America that support local communities while helping nurture athletic talent and promote sports culture.

Continuing the Journey Toward a More Sustainable Future

The release of the 2025 Sustainability Report reflects OPPO's continued efforts to integrate environmental responsibility, technological innovation, and social impact into every aspect of its business.

From greener manufacturing practices and more sustainable packaging to accessible software features, health research, educational initiatives, and global cultural partnerships, the company continues expanding how technology can create positive change beyond the devices themselves.

Looking ahead, OPPO plans to continue investing in innovation and organizational capabilities that allow it to deliver exceptional products while contributing to a more sustainable future for communities around the world.
