Nokia 2.3 Philippines Price is PHP 5,990, Full Specs, Actual Photos, Purchase Freebies

On February 5, 2020 at Yes Please! in BGC Taguig City, HMD Global Philippines formally introduced two new Android smartphones that are targeted towards consumers who are just leveling up from their feature phones.

The Nokia 2.3 is the more pricey model of the two but I think this one has several key features that will make it very enticing to young Filipinos who are now planning to get a full-fledged smartphone without spending too much money.

One of the most attractive selling points of Nokia 2.3 is its large 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, which is sizable enough to provide an enjoyable visual experience when browsing social media apps, viewing videos, or reading blogs.

I think mobile consumers who are still using a basic phone with an alpha-numeric keypad will find this feature particularly amazing.

Design-wise, Nokia 2.3's shell is made completely of polycarbonate or coated plastic. Sure, it doesn't have the elegant frills and embellishments of more expensive Android smartphones in the market but I think some users will find this no-non-sense look quite pleasing. The back also has a textured finish which doesn't only make it quite unique but also helps the exterior attract less fingerprint grime.

In the Philippines, this model is available two colors, Cyan Green - which I have here - and Charcoal (Grey).

Now, let's talk about Nokia 2.3's imaging capabilities.

In front, houses in a waterdrop-shaped notched above the display, there's a 5 MegaPixel f/2.4 camera that can be used for snapping selfies. This can also work with popular applications like Youcam Perfect or Soda Natural Beauty Camera to deliver selfies that are instantly ready for sharing on Facebook or Instagram.

At the back, this handset has two cameras. One is a 13 MegaPixel f/2.2 shooter that should perform well for everyday photography when there's ample ambient light. Then, there's the secondary 2 MegaPixel Depth Sensor that lets the user add bokeh effect or background blur to portraits as well as food and product shots.

Inside the shell, Nokia 2.3 runs its vanilla Android 9.0 Pie operating system with a 12nm Quad-Core 2.0 GHz MT6761 Helio A22 from MediaTek that incorporates a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The processor is complemented by 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded using the microSD card via the hybrid secondary nanoSIM slot.

Although we can't call this model a "beast" or a "powerhouse" in terms of internal hardware, this set of innards should be good enough for day to day social media browsing, Youtube vlog hopping, and doing basic tasks like sending emails or reading websites.

Speaking of the operating system, one of the best things about Nokia Android smartphones crafted under HMD Global is that they are guaranteed to get firmware upgrades up to two years and security updates up to three years -- thanks to HMD Global's close partnership with Google.

Hence, Nokia 2.3 will definitely get Android 10 software update in the near future.

Another useful highlight of Nokia 2.3 is its large 4,000 mAh Li-Po battery which should enable this smartphone to deliver at least a whole day of uptime. For those who aren't really power users or heavy gamers, I believe this huge pack can even last up to two days.
