Samsung Galaxy S3 Philippines Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update, Out Now!

Just a heads up for all Samsung Galaxy S3 owners in the Philippines: If you haven't got the notification, you might want to check if Android 4.1 Jelly Bean over-the-air update is already available for your handset.

Yesterday, our friend, Marck Eco, messaged me on Facebook telling me that he's just got OTA Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware upgrade for his former-ICS-running SGS3. And he even sent these screengrabs as proof:

So I guess the Korean company has officially started rolling it out in the Philippines.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update brings a slew of enhancements to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which include a butter-smooth user interface and touch response - thanks to changes in graphics operations, offline voice typing, Google Now voice search and virtual assistant, and automatic widget resizing, among many others.

To check if OTA update is already available for your SGS3, just go to Settings, then About Phone, Sofwate Update, and Check for Updates. Just make sure you're connected to a fast and reliable WiFi or mobile connection and that your phone has enough juice (or is plugged to a power source) to go through the update before proceeding. Alternatively, you can get the firmware upgrade using Kies software on your computer; Simply run the latest version of Samsung Kies on your Mac or PC, then connect your Samsung Galaxy S3 via USB, and check for updates.
