Cherry Mobile Pulse Price Php 6,499, Specs, Features : Cheapest Octa Core Android Smartphone To Date

It's only been a month or so that SKK Kraken held the title as the most affordable Octa Core Android handset in the Philippines -- but it appears Cherry Mobile is not keen on letting one of its local rivals keep that crown any longer.

Cherry Mobile Pulse

In celebration of Cherry Mobile's 5th strong year in the country, the leading local mobile phone brand - in terms of sheer sales figures - introduces a new line of smartphones with Double Tap to Awake feature, the Cherry Mobile Pulse series. Two models have been launched thus far and this is the more expensive variant, the battleship Cherry Mobile Pulse.

Cherry Mobile Pulse

Donning a price tag of only Php 6,499 and hitting store shelves today, Cherry Mobile Pulse has just become the new most affordable Octa Core Android smartphone in the Philippines. According to CM, "This 5-inch HD IPS DragonTrail protected display equipped smartphone can run HD games at full power using its 1GB of RAM and store photos, music, and apps with its built-in 8GB of storage. Shutterbugs will also not be disappointed with the 13 MegaPixel rear and 5 MegaPixel front camera combination."

Cherry Mobile Pulse runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box with its 1.7 GHz Octa Core ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 450 GPU based MediaTek MT6592 chipset. This SoC is known to be not just powerful but also energy-efficient as it can run only one or all eight cores depending on the requirement. This processor paired with the above-mentioned innards give the handset an Antutu Benchmark score in the area of 25,634, a high mark that should be well-reflected in the smooth gaming and overall touch experience on the device.

But what truly sets this release apart from other CM handsets having such chipset - like Cherry Mobile Cosmos Z2, Cherry Mobile Omega Infinity phablet, and Cherry Mobile Magnum S - is that it comes with the company's new Double Tap to Awake feature that lets you turn on its idle display simply by quickly double tapping the home button; A feature that's quite similar to what CM's local rival introduced on Starmobile Sky -- although, you can tap on any part of that handset's display to wake it up.

It seems all local manufacturers - especially MyPhone, Cherry Mobile, and SKK - are doing their best to release powerhouse devices with the lowest prices possible. Hence, I don't think it will take long before another handset model takes that title away from CM Pulse. Nonetheless, when you think about everything this smartphone gives you for Php 6,499, I believe it's totally worth checking out.
