Hotshot tech brand realme has just officially launched two new midrange Android smartphones in the Philippines to jumpstart 2022 -- and this one is the more affordable model.

Donning an official suggested retail price of PHP 16,990 and a discounted promo price of PHP 14,990 from March 16 to 18, 2022 via realme's official online store in Lazada PH, the all-new realme 9 Pro targets entry-level to midrange consumers who are currently planning to upgrade to a capable 5G-enabled handset that can be a reliable companion for online learning, work-from-home, gaming, and even for taking photos.

Flaunting an elegant shell that's available in three colors, namely, Midnight Black, Aurora Green, Sunrise Blue, this smartphone comes with several key features that I'm sure many young Filipinos will find quite attractive.

My favorite ones are its large and brilliant 6.6-inch FullHD+ IPS LCD display with high 120Hz Refresh Rate that makes it very responsive to touch gestures, its Triple Rear Camera Module (made up of a 64MP main shooter, 8MP ultra-wide cam, and a 2MP macro camera), 16 MegaPixel Front-Facing Selfie or Groufie camera, ultra-fast 5G connectivity support, the very large 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery pack ensuring extended uptime, and 33W Fast Charging technology.

Under the hood, realme 9 Pro runs its realme UI 3.0 customized Android 12 operating system with an energy-efficient yet powerful 6nm 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor with Adreno 619 GPU for decent gaming performance. This chipset is complemented with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that the user can easily beef up via the dedicated microSD card slot.

For me, one of the points for improvement of this model compared to its best-selling predecessors would have to be its lack of 4K video recording capability, which is believed to be a limitation caused by the smartphone's chipset. It remains to be seen whether realme will fix this through a software upgrade in the future. Here's to hoping they'll do that because, all things considered, I think realme 9 Pro is a pretty good offering given its price.

Oh, and also, I hope that realme would finally consider integrating a 4K video recorder on their smartphones' front-facing cameras since this feature has become quite valuable for many consumers these days who shoot vlogs and TikTok videos using their handsets.
