MyPhone myX8 Specs Headlined by 4,000 mAh Battery and 18:9 Display

Don't count MyPhone out just yet!

Although it's obvious that Pinoy handset brand MyPhone is no longer as prolific as it once was in releasing new mobile products, the social media unveiling of the new MyPhone myX8 Android smartphone proves that the company may be down but it's certainly not out.

Rumored to be priced at a bit less than PHP 5,000, this lower-midrange model appears to be a very solid release in terms of technical specifications.

Looking at online promotional materials for the MyPhone myX8, I'd say that the company is particularly proud about the big 4,000 mAh battery pack of this model, which is a real treat given its price. There's also the "eXtended" or tall 5.45-inch HD+ IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio that supposedly makes this phone worthy of the line "The right X for you".

Apart from those two key features, the other technical specifications of the myX8 are also pretty solid for a handset in its price category.

For imaging, it has a 8 MegaPixel autofocus rear camera that's powered by a Sony sensor, which ensures at least decent low light performance. This shooter is complemented by a 5 MegaPixel front cam for users who love snapping selfies.

Under the hood, Dual-SIM 4G-enabled MyPhone myX8 is runs its fairly updated Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with a 1.25 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A53 and Mali-T760 based MediaTek MT6739 processor, has 2GB of RAM, and comes with 16GB of expandable storage. Not bad at all, right?

Oh, and if you love watching local TV stations, you'd be glad to know that this model can work with MyPhone's own DTV dongle, which you just need to plug to the microUSB port, giving you access to Digital TV channels of ABS-CBN, GMA7, and Sports 5 (with signal strength depending on your location).

On July 1, 2018, MyPhone will hold its "eXtended Pasasalamat" concert for its hardcore Pinoy fans and there, the company is expected to formally announce the myX8 along with the Android smartphone's official suggested retail price.
