MSI GT640 : The World's Most Powerful Gaming Notebook ? Or is it Toshiba Qosmio X500 ?

Totally unmindful of the existence of Alienware, Voodoo Envy, Thinkpad W Series, Toshiba Qosmio line, Vaio AR line, Acer Ferrari and Macbook Pro, MSI tagged GT640 - one of its newer releases - as "The World's Most Powerful Gaming Notebook"

But is it really? Let's take a look at what's inside the aluminum alloy body to find out:

Core i7 Processor
1GB NVIDIA Geforce GTS 250
up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM,
500 Gigabytes of storage

Other specs:
2MP webcam,
Blu-ray burner.
HDMI
Wifi,
Bluetooth 2.0,
7.1 channel audio output
eSATA input

Well, this might not sound good for MSI, but Toshiba has just released Qosmio X500 - a multi-media and gaming laptop which comes with a Core i7 processor, GeForce GTS 250M, Webcam, Blu-ray Burner and supports up to 8GB of RAM and 1 Terabyte of disk space.

Looks like Toshiba wins the title this time. But nonetheless, kudos to MSI for the sheer competitiveness.

  1. I think if you're talking about power, Alienware should always be in the discussion—even if thye don't sell anything in RP!

Re Alienware, yup, definitely. :) Those are beasts! Qosmio X500 just had a bit of an edge here with the hardware.
