Cherry Mobile Joins Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona To Showcase New Windows Phone 8.1 Handsets

Every year since 1987, the most prominent global players in the telecommunications industry gather at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to unveil their latest products and to introduce their freshest innovations to consumers. Within the past five years, many of the world's best-selling and most iconic smartphones - including Samsung Galaxy S5, Nokia Lumia 520, HTC One M7, Sony Xperia Z, and Nokia 808 PureView - had seen their official announcement at MWC.

This year, via Microsoft Corporation, a couple of new Cherry Mobile smartphones will be included in the exhibit area of this major international event from March 2 to 5, 2015. This sterling achievement effectively makes Cherry Mobile the first Filipino handset company to have its products showcased at the Mobile World Congress.

To quote the local electronics giant on its official Facebook page, "Hola Barcelona! Watch out for Cherry Mobile's newest Windows devices on the Mobile World Congress! Another milestone for Cherry Mobile and another FIRST from a Philippine mobile phone brand! #MWC15 #CherryMobileXMicrosoft"

But what exactly will CM unveil at MWC 2015? According to our 'trusted insider', two new Windows 8.1 handsets under Cherry Mobile's Alpha series will make their first appearance at the Microsoft booth. The first one will be very affordable and is poised to be the successor to the best-selling Cherry Mobile Alpha Style. "It will also come in a variety of youthful colors," our anonymous source shared. The second one, on the other hand, is a midrange WP8.1 handset with good technical specifications that will serve as a successor to the 2014 TechPinas Badge of Excellence Awardee, Cherry Mobile Alpha Luxe. Sounds exciting, right?! Stay tuned for updates.

As a staunch supporter of our local tech industry, I couldn't be happier for Cherry Mobile for achieving this feat and for practically reaching another milestone in terms of introducing new products. This is clearly a fruit of their efforts to partner with giant international companies like Microsoft and to continuously nurture that alliance.

A dear friends from CM told me after I congratulated him for the brand's Mobile World Congress appearance, "Thank you, Mark! Nothing big on MWC, baby steps palang (These are mere baby steps)." Well, that may be true -- but this also represents a giant leap for the Philippine tech community as a whole. Great job, Cherry Mobile! Pinoy Pride! Cheers!
