2010 World Robot Olympiad to be Held in the Philippines

For the first time ever, the Philippines will host the 2010 World Robot Olympiad (WRO) - a global robotics competition for young people, first held in 2004 in Singapore and now attracts 1000 participants from 32 countries.*

WRO is aimed at young scientists from around the world to interact and engage in a friendly robot competition, which helps young Robotians experience and learn creative thinking and problem-solving skills. [via]

The Philippines, A Fitting Choice

In the seven years that it has joined the Olympiad, 'the Philippines has won two WRO gold medals, courtesy of robotics entries from FAITH (First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities) in Tanauan City, Batangas and Grace Christian High School in Quezon City. The Philippine contestants [through the years] also won two silvers and a bronze', shared Ms. Ruby Cristobal, head of the science and technology culture development program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)

Truly, another proof that the Filipino's talent and tech know-how are world-class.
