MyPhone Tierra MyPad 4 Android Tablet Price Php 9,988, Full Specs, Features : Quad Core Tablet with Phone Functionality

Did you know that "Tierra" is the name of MyPhone's current line of Android tablets? Yup, Agua - meaning 'water' - is for smartphones and Tierra, which means 'land', is for slates. Interesting product nomenclature, right?

Anyway, 2014 upper midrange release MyPhone Tierra MyPad 4 combines full-fledged tablet specifications with smartphone functionality like being able to send text messages, make calls, and access 3G HSPA+ mobile data. And it also comes with a few neat software features from the local electronics giant.

A tad too big to used like a regular phone, the slate doesn't have an earpiece and mouthpiece, which you can use when making calls, but you can plug in the earphones with mic to talk to your friends.

Priced at Php 9,988 as of June 23, 2014, MyPad 4 is equipped with a crisp and brilliant 7.8 inch HD 1024 x 768 pixels IPS display, an 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 5 MegaPixel front cam, HD video recorder, 4,500 Li-Ion battery pack. Under the hood, the devices runs the tablet-optimized Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system with its MediaTek MTK 8389M chipset incorporating a Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7 CPU and PowerVR SGX 544 GPU, handles multitasking with 1 GB of RAM, and has 8 GB of expandable storage. In terms of connectivity, as mentioned, the slate supports 3G HSPA+ on top of WiFi and Bluetooth.

Aside from these powerhouse specifications, MyPhone Terra MyPad 4 also features applications that are unique to MyPhone devices like Pinoy 3 and TARA. Pinoy 3 is basically a collection of audio clips, word files, and photos documenting Philippine culture and traditions. TARA, on the other hand, is an anti-theft security software that lets you locate and disable a stolen MyPhone product; You can even shame or track the thief by making the device shout 'Magnanakaw' repeatedly until you disable it.

Given the device's rather hefty price tag, it's inevitable for MyPhone Tierra MyPad 4 to go head to head with Nexus 7 2013, which now sells for only Php 11,480 at Kimstore, among a few others. That's a tough one -- but one advantage of MyPhone's slate over tablets by international brands in this price range is that it has high resolution front and back cameras - the main one even has LED flash, an HD IPS display that looks great regardless of which angle you look at it, and it has a microSD card expansion slot. MyPhone Tierra MyPad 4 is a bit pricey but - if you ask me - if you're looking for an Android tablet with a good display and great imaging capabilities, it's definitely worth considering and check it out.
